ALT TRUE or FALSE: If you don’t have time to wash your hands, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer offers nearly equal protection against norovirus. Unlike for some other viruses, hand sanitizer does not work well against norovirus. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

ALT TRUE or FALSE: Norovirus can spread through dirty laundry. Fecal matter that spreads norovirus can be passed when it comes into contact with clothes. Immediately wash clothes that have come into contact with someone with norovirus or that may have vomit or poop on them.

ALT TRUE or FALSE: Norovirus is only contagious for up to 24 hours after symptoms are gone. Norovirus continues to be most contagious in the first few days after you are feeling better, and it can still be spread for two weeks or more after you have recovered.

ALT Measles outbreaks are increasing. So is misinformation. Get the facts & get the vaccines to protect your family and others. Measles is extremely contagious Up to 90% of the people who come in contact with a person with measles will also become infected if not vaccinated. It can spread through the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person has left the room. Measles vaccines are safe and highly effective. Measles vaccines (MMR vaccines) have been safely administered in the US for more than 50 years. Getting the recommended two doses is safe and is more than 97% effective against measles. Outbreaks are more common when fewer people are vaccinated. Nearly all cases of measles in current outbreaks are unvaccinated. As vaccination rates decrease, more people, vaccinated and unvaccinated, will get sick. Vaccine misinformation is increasingly common, but the facts have not changed.
