Competing for capital: don’t sell the kids to save the economy. The best hope for young people is to have an economy that plans for the future and focuses on resilience not betting on casino capitalism, argues @AlanSimpson01

Many of us will want to know when you are intending to give up your seat in the House of Lords? Two thirds of us in this country do not want Palantir anywhere near our public services.
After six wonderful years at UK Music, I'm joining Palantir UK as Senior Vice President.
Palantir is the most interesting company on the planet, doing work of real consequence: helping Britain and its allies defend themselves, helping police protect our citizens and helping NHS staff get patients treated and home sooner.
London is comfortably its largest centre outside the US, home to more than one in six employees, the highest proportion among the world's largest technology companies.
We have challenges. Some criticism is propaganda. Some raises legitimate questions about large technology companies and sovereign control. Both require answers.
Part of my role will be to correct false information while working with our engineers to ensure privacy, security and respect for sovereignty are at the heart of everything we do.

If government is to overhaul failing infrastructure, accelerate the green transition and reshape strategically important industries like water and energy, it needs the freedom to act without facing billion-pound claims from foreign investors.
A little-known area of trade policy hides this particular weapon: Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS). Other countries are already tackling this - it's time we caught up.
I wrote about this in the New Statesman: newstatesman.com/spotlight/2…

Keir Starmer's phantom constituency was Labour Together and he was their phantom "representative". When this fell apart, he had to go. Please read 'The Fraud' by Paul Holden.

Israeli settlers stole a donkey from a Palestinian farmer - and dragged it behind a vehicle until it died. Footage shows the animal struggling as it's pulled.
Israeli settlers have once again proven that there is no bottom to their inhumanity.

“The whole thing is such a massive scam [..] that most people can’t believe it.”
Recently I hosted a screening of the documentary-drama exposing the sewage scandal, #DirtyBusiness, in Norwich.
It was important to me that my constituents got to hear from the real people behind the show. People like Ash Smith of @WindrushWasp, who's spent 10+ years uncovering mass criminality in our privatised water system.
Privatisation has failed us. It’s time for public ownership.
Excellent debunking of the @onward report which attempted, but failed, to justify @Conservatives abandonment of net zero. The report is a textbook example of policy-based evidence-making.

The state is devoting an incredible amount of resource into attempting to paint anyone opposed to genocide as a “terrorist”.
Notably, the trial against Tony Greenstein, a Jewish anti-Zionist, intends to suggest that a tweet opposing genocide seen by ~100 people is terrorism.
The trial of veteran Jewish anti-Zionist writer Tony Greenstein has opened at Kingston Crown Court under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act over online posts from late 2023.
Following preliminary legal arguments heard in the morning, the prosecution opened its case to the jury. The Crown pointed to an exchange on X where, prompted to post "I support Hamas", Greenstein qualified his reply: "I support the Palestinians that is enough and I support Hamas against the Israeli army."
To argue his mindset, the Crown placed his wider blog posts from October and November before the jury. The full exhibits showed Greenstein calling out Western double standards—condemning Joe Biden and James Cleverly for backing armed resistance in Ukraine while condemning it in Palestine—alongside comparisons to the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, citations of a 2014 Guardian report on Gaza, and an advert for his published book on Zionism during the Holocaust.
The prosecution noted these posts had an audience between 56 and 151 views. Greenstein has pleaded not guilty. The prosecution continues tomorrow, with the defence case expected later this week.

A British citizen in their 20s heads over to #Israel, takes part in killing children and other civilians. Comes back and nothing is done.
An elderly lady says that she is opposed to this activity and the police arrest her as a terrorist.
Is this some sort of Kafka novel?

A former World Bank president has sounded the alarm, revealing that the Federal Reserve has lost over a trillion dollars—and counting—turning it into nothing more than a massive hedge fund for the rich and powerful.
He claims the Fed is borrowing money from banks at 5.4% interest, then pouring it into government bonds, creating the illusion that the government’s financial situation is better than it actually is.
He warns that this scheme isn’t just limited to the U.S.—it’s happening across central banks worldwide.
