“Like Christian theologians, tax theoreticians have long argued that death is an event of realization” is one of the greatest first lines of a paper ever

Cooking for yourself occasionally can be more expensive than marginal cost of another doordash. Comes down to how much food is wasted. If ordering in bulk to save on delivery fees, cooking 2-3 equivalent meals a week is more expensive.
every so often i remember the “cooking is more expensive than takeout” crowd and am amazed at their lack of critical thinking (there’s no world in which ingredients + labor could be cheaper than ingredients alone), and also just curious what other aspects of their lives are totally fucked by their misconceptions of reality.
as a data point, i’ve frozen 160+ servings of food for postpartum. on average each serving has cost about $1.50 in ingredients.
