The Hockey club is today run by some of us former players & we try our best to give young kids, especially girls, the opportunity to play 🏑. Most kids come from very poor families and it is gives so much belief to the kids when a hero like Suraj Karkera returns to his roots.
So happy to see Mumbai lad Suraj Karkera, Indian 🏑GK &🥇from #AsianGames2026, go to his home turf ground in Mumbai & inspire kids from our Republicans Sports Club that has produced multiple 🏑Olympians like Gavin Ferreira, Jude Menezes, Adrian Dsouza, Devinder Valmiki & myself
What an outstanding performance by Indian Athletics at the Asian Games!
1 Gold | 9 Silver | 14 Bronze - 24 medals
• 5 National Records
• 11 Personal Bests
• 3 Season Bests
• 28% of India’s total medals came from Athletics
And beyond the podium - 9 fourth-place, 8 fifth-place and 6 sixth-place finishes.
Since January 2026, our athletes have broken 33 National Records.
There is always room to improve and miles to go, but Indian Athletics continues to rise, becoming stronger, deeper and more competitive - and contributing significantly towards India’s emergence as a global sporting nation.
Proud of our athletes, coaches and the entire athletics fraternity. Well Done once again.

These are the four superwomen who’ve just won the women’s 4*400m relay GOLD at the Asian Games. 🥇🇮🇳
And what does one say about the new superstar of Indian women’s athletics, Vithya Ramraj!
At the Asian level, that anchor leg was simply beyond compare. What a run.
Kudos to the girls. What a fabulous victory.
Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

Then what does he mean by official ? Muck raking reportage . Who told him that no one expected a medal. Missing the flag was the error. Rest of it is creative writing by @jon_selvaraj . When people of adille and anju bobby George's calibre have clarified a correction is warranted

Rest of the story though is a good read . Needless baiting with the tweet and headline.

Are coaches and support staff not official enough? There were other events on at the same time and every athlete had the needed support. To say that officials did not expect a podium finish In Marathon does not reflect the truth.

🚨 Exclusive and breaking – Adille Sumariwalla, in an interview with RevSportz, speaks about Sawan Barwal’s historic silver, the ‘utter nonsense’ about lack of support, and India’s athletics medal hopes in Nagoya.

You're usually on point Jonathan, but we should ask ourselves - do other countries have such practices? I don't see officials of other countries doing it. I think we need to leave the atheletes to present themselves. They're professional and capable.

Should clarify what you mean by official then no ?
I respect our media friends but expect them to be the fair to the team. We back our athletes all the way. Coaches Scott Simmons, Ronald Gerd Weigel, Younis and Ajit, recovery expert Asanha de Silva, physios Mayur Thakkar and Ishaan Marwaha and masseur Rengith Gopi were all there.
Sawan Barwal didn't have a flag to hold after winning 🥈 in the men's marathon- first medal for 🇮🇳 in nearly half a century- at the Asia's Games in Nagoya. No official showed up on race morning since no one believed he had a chance to make history. sportstar.thehindu.com/asian…

I feel that Weightlifting Chief Coach Vijay Sharma is the one of the best technical coaches in 🇮🇳 across all Indian Sports
He understands small technical changes that need to be made in training, periodisation, tapering, peaking & importantly, the mindset of an elite athlete

Three medals for India from the men's Air Rifle competition in the Asian Games. In the brave quest for gold towards the end of the final, Rudranksh Patil let go of his grip on silver. His 9.7 on the 21st shot is perhaps a result of an adrenaline rush rather than pressure.

It would be such a path breaking moment to have an Indian at the helm of one of the most important World Sports Bodies. @Adille1 is most deserving and needs all our support.

My colleague @kannandelhi & I thought we will do our bit by penning a book, Maverick Jaspal. IOA President PT Usha went one better by announcing the Jaspal Rana Trophy for best female athlete & the Raja Randhir Singh Trophy for the best male athlete in the Asian Games. #Gratitude
