As Christmas comes to a close to our families in the Levant, I have proposed a new partition plan for the most disputed area called Israstein. What started as a joke has now become a serious proposal for peace in the Middle East. Here are the rough guidelines so far: -the territory highlighted will be split north/south along a horizontal border. -Palestine will be given control of the northern territory, and Israel will be given control of the southern territory for the first 10 years. -similar to a sporting match that has 30 or 45-minute halves, at halftime after 10 years, the two countries will switch sides. A full shared occupation/match will last 20 years before the sides reset. -at reset after 20 years, both sides will flip a coin to determine which country gets to choose the side for the next 10 years before having to switch. -a UN/NATO peacekeeping force will attack whichever side refuses to switch after 10 years. Benefits: -Israel introduces key infrastructure to the southern region, gentrifies the desert area, and brings general prosperity to a sparsely inhabited region during their 10-year occupation. -Palestine brings increased cultural influence to the northern region and the established affluence trickles down. Refugee camps are abolished. Birth rates and death rates naturally decline. -both countries will become key allies during this process and help develop both regions. Costs: -uprooting your home and lifestyle every 10 years(Jews spent 40 years wandering the desert without any clear end in sight, so this will hardly be as bad(no wandering, comfy desert homes, upgrades after 10 years). -many will die as they refuse to switch sides after 10 years(maybe certain exceptions can be made but a certain % will try to hide during the 10-year switch). -massive costs of relocating aided by the international community(but it's the best way for peace so far). The deal can only be arranged if both sides agree to the partition plan. This could take up to 10 years to fully organize with bloated and stubborn government bureaucracies.
