🆘🆘 EMMY (ID 239926), 6 YO, FEMALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 10/25/2025, with the surrender reason stated as person health - allergies. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 12/20/25 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 7th Chance on Emergency Placement List – ON BORROWED TIME – SHELTER AT CAPACITY- NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP EMMY - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK –🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 55 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ EMMY IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Emmy's all about nuance. It's a good thing but, in spite of our best attempts, shelter life isn't always structured that way. Resting half in and out of her bed with paws stretched wide, Emmy enthusiastically greeted me by leaning into my hand for some scritches mixed with some quiet reflection. A thoughtful and precise cat, she eventually decided to get up and come closer to me. Sitting down to stretch and tuck her head into my arm, Emmy can be really affectionate when you take her lead. This last point is important because for all of Emmy's thoughtfulness, making shelter life work for her has proven to be a work in progress. She's hoping to find a patient and loving family who wants to meet her where she is and share with her the chance she deserves.
