Historic milestone for #NorthEastIndia! 🚆 #Aizawl, capital of Mizoram, is now on the #IndianRailways map for the 1st time since Independence, with the ₹8,070 cr Bairabi–Sairang line inaugurated by PM Modi. It is another Indian engineering marvel that cuts through 45 tunnels, 55 major & 88 minor bridges. This railway – a ‘lifeline of transformation’ – will boost Mizoram’s trade, tourism, agriculture, connectivity & integration with other parts of the country. Alongside, ₹17,500 cr worth development projects have been launched together, in #Mizoram & #Manipur, spanning roads, power, health, education & infrastructure during PM’s visit. These moves augment India’s ‘#ActEastPolicy’, boost economic opportunities and enhance border security in a region crucial for trade linkages with #ASEAN countries and to counter Chinese and growing US influence. #Northeast is fast emerging from decades of neglect to become a leading growth engine and the new gateway to prosperity.
