Hnmmmmmm, this is a serious issue. I had a particular issue with my daughter in a particular year that would have completely derailed Her future if not strategically managed, A school couldn't get a teacher for a specific course she had done for an entire A levels year, They wanted Her to change to something else in the second year which of course would be the exam year, She lost Her confidence and began to doubt so many things, of course She's the minority, I had to get 2 different Universities Lecturer from Nigeria for online Classes and support for the entire year, cost a bit but we ended up with an A still. Now a silly online troll will say She didn't merit it The school still didn't provide the teacher only online platform, the other 2 students on the course fell off, One had to repeat in another school, the second one got derailed and now work in a job He wouldn't have somewhere There are other examples, At least I can talk about Nigerian Parents Here, most of us invest significantly in extra tutelage, coaching and support for our children , Paid for heavily to ensure good grades are maintained. My kids started off at private Saturday school because I couldn't afford for the entire week just to give them an edge and maintain a certain standard. We sacrificed/sacrifices a lot of personal comforts to maintain good grades, and aspire to meaningful future for them in this land because we know they are already against so much. Not acknowledging it is pretending, A black child excelling in GCSE And A Levels is beyond just the school, As a parent I am heavily involved and so is many of my friends. One of ours went to Harvard's on full Scholarship from Brampton college, The Mum sacrificed so much, a whole lot Yet some online nuisance wants to reduce that to DEI , No way, it won't happen, God will not allow it and we will start talking about our realities now. I am sacrificing so much, moved Home, changed jobs just to ensure better economic support for my kids, No idiot will reduce all that to DEI when my Children find themselves at the very top because by Gods grace they will and they won't be killing themselves for any troll too. I take Mental Health and emotional health extremely seriously for every black child around me. We need to build them in a different way, We cannot afford to let them get into their heads. It will be Werey lafin wo were going forward
The UK education system is rigged against black children, and I am well qualified to say this as a former Director of Children's Services. Tell me why black boys (black Caribbean worse than black African) are strong at Maths at the start and plummet to near the bottom by A-levels. There are so many other indices. Prof Jason Arday’s story raises so many issues that need to be tackled from the foundation. And no, we don't need the racists as part of the solution.

I don’t think Harry gets enough credit for leaving with his wife - for many in the British Press the only acceptable outcome would have been divorce or death.

All these white profs on LinkedIn talking about the huge grants that they received from bids co-written with Jason. Why did you not talk about it when he was alive and in the eye of the storm? The hypocrisy of academia.

Jason Arday’s death is a reminder of how brutal public scrutiny can be. As a person of colour in the UK, you’re allowed no slip ups, the media will circle for things others get forgiven for. You can be born here, excel here, contribute here, and still be treated like you don’t belong.
