Last week, the AVMA attended Pet Night during #PetWeekonCapitolHill. Hosted by @HABRITweets, advocacy staff celebrated the importance of pet ownership for human health and well-being with lawmakers, congressional staff, other allies of the profession, and a few furry friends.

Last week, I was pleased to see my Combating Illicit Xylazine Act passed unanimously out of the House. This bill empowers law enforcement to go after the criminals pushing deadly xylazine into our communities while protecting its legitimate use as a veterinary medicine.
I will be working to ensure we get this bill passed in the Senate so we can save lives.
