Pleased to be quoted in the @IPDefenseForum, of the US Pacific Command, on the India-Indonesia-Japan trilateral 🇮🇳 🇮🇩 🇯🇵
My take: the region is moving toward flexible, issue-based partnerships rather than one overarching security architecture. The latest trilateral initiative is a good example.: ipdefenseforum.com/2026/09/i…

As artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life, we need to understand how it could spread extremist ideas, influence vulnerable young people and accelerate radicalisation.
The PJCIS inquiry into the drivers of radicalisation in Australia is an opportunity to better understand these risks and hear from experts, parents, teachers and young people about their experiences.
📝 My latest op-ed for @ASPI_org's The Strategist explores why we need to get ahead of the challenges. Read the full piece and learn how you can contribute to the inquiry:

Always good to talk to LJ. It's a very interesting case that we need to learn from but it's the trend that we should really worry about more than this individual incident. Another alarm bell that should spur action.
ASPI's @davidwroe joined @News24Aust to discuss revelations that an OpenAI agent accessed a Medicare data portal, the risks of increasingly autonomous AI systems and why governments need to address the “global human coordination problem” around AI safety.

My latest with @Dr_M_Davis for @ASPI_org #TheStrategist: Australia's first female astronaut, Katherine Bennell-Pegg, has a shot at the ISS. For A$100m, Australia would be investing in more than just one flight — it would be a big boost to Australia's space sector, a serious investment in terms of Australia's international partnerships and important in cementing Australia's place as a serious space power. But mostly, it would be a huge inspiration to a generation of girls who could grow up believing space is theirs too. | aspistrategist.org.au/kather… via @aspi_org

What if you could test propaganda on thousands of synthetic Australians, Americans and others before publishing it?
Chinese state-linked researchers are trying to do something close to that.

Proud to reflect on 9/11 with John.
Terrorism seeks effects far beyond its immediate victims. It wants fear & division. Terrorism achieves a strategic goal if it destroys trust and turns parts of society against each other.
So social cohesion is a national security capability.
On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, @BassiJustin & @johncoyne14 reflect in @australian on the day & what’s changed. They write that “with the rise of social media in those 25 years, our ability to cope with difference, disagreement and crises has regressed.”
