It's easy to look at Marilyn Gladu's long history of unabashedly conservative positions and be surprised at her decision today, but the kind of person who would abandon their principles overnight for a whiff of power clearly belongs with the Liberals.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith @ABDanielleSmith Please do the right thing and pause the AB fuel tax at once. Inflation is about to go sky high. It's the least you can do for the time being. Albertans are hurting. @EricBouchardAB

Finally! About time. Good move.
🚨 NEWS: Our government is modernizing law enforcement and creating a new policing option for communities across Alberta. Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis introduced Bill 15 to transition Alberta Sheriffs into the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service, a modern police service equipped to respond to complex crime. What this means: ✅ More officers with specialized training to combat sophisticated criminals ✅ New authority to shut down problem properties fueling crime in neighbourhoods ✅ A coordinated police service built to protect Alberta communities We're building a safer, stronger Alberta with modern law enforcement.

While I'm sure the causes are complicated, no nation has leaned more into "diversity is our strength, we don't need a melting pot we have a salad bowl" immigration insanity than Canada. It has the highest foreign-born share of the population in the entire G7 and its living standards have stagnated.
What happened in Canada will be studied by many historians and economists as the prime example of self-destruction of an otherwise prosperous nation after blindly following left ideology.

And with all due respect to my Canadian friends, whose politics focus obsessively on the United States: your stagnating living standards have nothing to do with Donald Trump or whatever bogeyman the CBC tells you to blame. The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.

Talk of a general strike in Alberta is all about holding Albertans hostage so the NDP and their weaponized unions can attack and destabilize the government of Alberta. The Alberta NDP are proven toxic to Alberta. They must never again hold any power.

I’m looking forward to crushing Alberta’s unions once and for all. I hope they do go to war, they will realize how little we care about them. Maybe we can fire thousands of public servants, maybe even tens of thousands!

Public school teachers are some of the biggest whiners in the world. They get all summer off, they get dozens of days off during the school year, and they get Christmas/Easter breaks off. These are not hard working people. They are entitled leeches.

Land acknowledgements are performative, virtue signaling bullshit. They don't belong anywhere. Especially in classrooms.
Hi @PaulCalandra, when should parents expect a statement from you regarding land acknowledgments in schools? Will you denounce them as political weapons and defend the right of children to go to school without being told they live on land that isn’t theirs?

Canadians need to fight this at all costs! Land claims from the past are just that, from the past. No one who bought property should have their land taken from them. This WILL cause civil war should this ruling stand. Canada is a broken mess. Unite and fight this!

This is wrong, and Canadians know it. In Richmond, families are being told their homes could be taken out from under them because government handed control of their land to an Indigenous band. If our homes aren’t safe, nothing is. Property rights are the backbone of a free country, and Canadians are tired of being pushed around by courts and politicians. We have a right to own what we’ve worked for. It’s time to stand up and demand real property rights now.

Spoke with two teachers. They are family. And private. Both are upset that the union and the teachers are being berated and influenced by the @AlbertaNDP. Constantly. Clearly this isn’t about the teachers. It’s Needy @Nenshi begging for credibility. Please RT as we all hope a deal is reached next week. For the sake of Alberta.

I wish I had a job that gave me the whole summer off, paid me more than the starting wage of 80 percent of the population, and had multiple long weekends. Teachers need to get back to work right away. The @albertateachers needs to get its act together and stop being political.

Reminder: A teacher starting out in Alberta earns $9,000/year MORE than the average engineer. (The ones that keep bridges/buildings from collapsing). They also get 3 month vacations where they could work another job (oh the humanity) and boost their base salary by 25%.

Well said. Look, we all want more money due to inflation. What they have been offered, no one, and I mean no one, in the private sector is getting. Both sides need to make a deal already. The kids are the ones who will suffer. I feel for the Grade 12s this year.
We all want a fair agreement that teachers can support. Teachers, parents, and students deserve stability. Twice, agreements were reached by union leadership but not ratified by teachers including: ✅ 12-17% salary increase ✅ 3,000 new teachers to reduce class sizes ✅ 1500 educational assistants to support teachers I am urging the ATA leadership to engage with teachers, determine what supports they need, and come back to the bargaining table so we can get a deal that keeps kids in the classroom. AI can kiss my ass. For example, AI could never accomplish what Christopher Nolan achieved with Interstellar. @IMAX no one cares about your AI-assisted films. We want real art done by real fucking human beings. Is that so hard? Is that asking too much??
