Nicotine pouches are growing in popularity, including among young people. That raises concerns about what increased nicotine use could mean for their health and well-being. Nicotine can negatively affect the developing adolescent brain, including learning, memory and executive function. Yet tobacco companies are investing heavily in nicotine pouches as part of a strategy to grow and sustain nicotine use. Read the brief to learn more: bit.ly/4w3s9IJ #ExposeTobacco #MentalHealth

🚨 Flavoured tobacco is a trap. 🍓🍬🌿 Sweet, fruity, minty and other flavours can make tobacco products more appealing and mask the harshness of tobacco smoke — helping attract and sustain tobacco use. 📜 Under the WHO FCTC Articles 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines, Parties are encouraged to prohibit or restrict ingredients that increase the palatability and attractiveness of tobacco products, including flavourings, sugars, sweeteners, herbs and spices. 🌍 And countries are taking action: over 40 countries now ban flavoured tobacco products. 🚭 Flavours don’t make tobacco safer — they can make it more attractive. 👉 Regulate flavours. Reduce attractiveness. Protect public health. Read more -> fctc.who.int/resources/publi…

They denied cigarettes caused cancer. They disputed the harms of secondhand smoke. They claimed nicotine wasn’t addictive. Today, tobacco companies are making new claims about newer products. Their track record suggests these claims shouldn’t be taken at face value. Learn more: bit.ly/3SdQfzr #ExposeTobacco

On #InternationalYouthDay 🌍👥, we must be clear: young people are not the tobacco industry’s next market. 🚭 Our future is not their market. 🔮 The voices of young people are essential 🗣️✨ to building a healthier, more sustainable world 🌱🌎—one free from the harms of tobacco and nicotine products. At COP11, we had the privilege of meeting many of the Global Youth Voices 🌍🧑‍🤝‍🧑, and we remain committed to listening to their ideas, experiences and determination. 💬💪 Young people are helping us understand how our world is changing, and they will shape the future of public health. ❤️‍🩹🌎 Tobacco and nicotine companies continue to redesign products, flavours and marketing 📱🎯 to attract a new generation. We therefore call on Parties to the WHO FCTC to fully implement Article 13, including by addressing advertising, promotion and sponsorship across digital media, influencers, entertainment and sport 📲🎬🏅, in line with the newly adopted guidance on entertainment media. We also call on Parties to uphold Article 5.3 🛡️ and protect public health policymaking from tobacco industry interference. Different contexts. Common aspirations. 🌍🤝 Our future is not their market. 🚭 #InternationalYouthDay #YouthDay #FCTCSavesLives 📄 Read the 2026 open letter, “Protect Young People, Make the Tobacco Industry Pay,” from the Global Youth Voices: gyv-cms.ggtc.world/wp-conten…

Today’s nicotine products were not designed to look dangerous. Ahead of #WorldNoTobaccoDay 2026, GGTC’s latest policy brief examines how the tobacco industry redesigned nicotine itself — from nicotine salts and high-strength formulations to flavours, discreet devices, and synthetic nicotine loopholes — to make addiction easier, faster, and harder to escape, especially for young people. 💡The brief highlights: • Nicotine’s 67.5% lifetime dependence probability — higher than alcohol, cocaine, or cannabis • Product engineering specifically designed to reduce sensory barriers and normalize use • Growing evidence linking nicotine use among youth to mental-health harms, including anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation • The industry’s use of “harm reduction” narratives and CSR to protect profits and influence policy The brief calls for: ☑️Banning recreational addictive nicotine products ☑️Classifying nicotine as a controlled substance ☑️Prohibiting tobacco industry CSR ☑️Expanding liability and cost-recovery measures so the industry pays for the harms it caused 🔗 Read the full brief: bit.ly/4v8mEZ2 #UnmaskTheAppeal #wntd2026 #TobaccoExposed #ProtectYouth
