while we're here, i don't want kendra or carter on the jl. they are jsa characters, that's where the human hawks should be. shayera not being on the jl currently is honestly really irritating given how she's theoretically the most popular incarnation of the character.

hawkworld (1990) #4
hawkwoman is tasked with saving kids in a burning fire but they get scared so shayera takes off her mask.
"i'm just as human as you are."
beautiful line from a thanagarian alien from thanagar.

DCAU Hawkgirl is genuinely one of the best written superheroes in any cartoon. The scene where she puts Grundy out of his misery is one of the most beautifully written and heartbreaking moments in all of comic book media.

so there is a book from 2008 called hawkman companion that explores the history of hawkman/hawkgirl/hawkwoman etc along with interviews on writers & artists that have worked on them in the past
and with me being the local hawkmates historian, of course I own it (for YEARS)

shayera's hawkwoman beat up the rest of the hawks upon first meeting in comics. she's truly an instigator!

I do think we should at least have a solo Shayera title that's DC Cosmic related that isn't built on anything to do with the DCAU

when i say people need to read the comics to write hawkgirl & hawkwoman, I don't mean for continuity sake. I mean because they can't think of any storyline for the girls that isn't "she's going to betray her loved ones for an invasion" lmao
