So good to see this important project taking off!
Dr Nicole Mifsud @miffy3005 was awarded $130K by @lungitudefound for research on #immune system rejection of #organ_transplant donor tissue. She will use peptide identification #immunopeptidomics for modulating #T_cell responses to the grafted organ. See: bit.ly/440fPvl

Shila, it has been a pleasure to work with you over the past few months - so glad that you returned to the University of Sydney!
Five years and a day since my PhD was conferred! By most measures I now enter MCR stage, and while graduation day still feels like just yesterday, a lot has happened since then. Thank you to new and continued connections and mentors, and I look forward to this next phase 🙏🙏

RNA floating in solution is partitioned into single-cell droplets along with cells. This ambient RNA confounds downstream analysis. Tools like SoupX and DecontX attempt to remove this background. Here are lung cells positive (yellow) for one gene before and after SoupX. 🧵(1/2)

ASMR SPOTLIGHT: USA vs AUS The USA spends $169 per person on health + medical research through @NIH Australia spends ~$51 per person through @nhmrc & MRFF Australia's research output per capita is greater than the USA. Imagine what we could achieve with increases in funding?
