Is my house perfectly organized? No. Is my family’s laundry promptly folded when it comes out of the dryer? Never. But . . . I wrote a whole book and have more ideas and drafts for new manuscripts in the works. That’s got to count for something, right?

Ever notice how often your characters shrug, nod their heads, or look at things? These generic gestures don’t bring them to life. Let’s dig into how to write gestures and beats that are fresh, meaningful, and layered with character. A writerly 🧵 #writingcommunity #amediting

Vixen is our longest stay dog at our shelter. She was originally found running in traffic as a puppy a few days before Christmas in 2022, and kind people brought her to our shelter. Since then, she has been adopted and returned twice 💔 She LOVES people and other dogs. She will play with other dogs nonstop. She is afraid of children, and it would take a patient home to get her used to children. She is not good with cats. Are you a kind soul who would love this goofy girl? Let us know! Her adoption fee is only $80 today. We're open from 12-4, and we know you'd love to meet this sweet girl 💗🐾 #dogs #adoptdontshop #shelterdogs – at Pendleton, OR

Report to Apple for breaking TOS: App Store > X > Report a Problem (scroll all the way down > “Report offensive, illegal or abusive content” in dropdown menu > describe TOS violation & submit. If Elon wants Twitter to be Parler he can get the same treatment.

WOW. A high school in Ohio organized a march to the polls with the high school band for first-time voters who are 18 or about to turn 18. Every high school around the country should do this too. So amazing.

I wish more schools would bring this type of thing back.💜
my high school did a thing called a readathon where you paid $5 and got to skip class and read in the school library for the entire day. you could come in your pyjamas and bring snacks and there was a pizza lunch. genuinely one of my favourite memories of hs

Ecologist speaking calmly: if you pump groundwater from a drinking water aquifer for cooling data center shit and it evaporates, becomes a cloud, drifts away, and rains into the sea, you have in effect USED UP WATER. Begging everyone to learn the water cycle taught in 7th grade.
It’s never not funny that people think water gets used up. Like they’re mining water.

The peaceful car ride commercial that ended with a zombie jumpscare totally traumatized me.😆🖤Still thinking of it all these years later!

And submitted!🖤🤞🏻
This is today. Piece must be exactly 99 words long (tho we don't care if that includes the title or not). This link will work from 12pm – 1:39pm ET, but not before and not after. (I will be doing yardwork most if not all of those 99 minutes. Have fun.) havehashad.submittable.com/s…

😂 I love Spooky Season so much. Also, infrastructure is sexy. We all need to do our part to take care of it! 🧡🖤
Not going to lie, City of Boise's first TikTok is pretty good

Writer Friends: Anyone know of a writing conference or retreat that happens on WEEK DAYS? I always want to attend events, but it would be much easier on my partner if I could go on a “school” day.😂

Holy crap, you guys!!! They responded and said YES!!! I’ll get to speak with this person next week, most likely!!😁
Today I sent an email to a stranger who’s had an experience very few people will ever have. I asked this person if I could ask them some questions as research for my WIP, and I really, REALLY hope they say yes.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Please excuse me while I obsessively refresh my email . . .

My teen neighbor is reading my YA Horror novel & texted that she loves it! She said she got busy earlier today but couldn’t wait to get back to it & I . . . I just . . .😭😭 Imposter syndrome has been plaguing me lately, so her kind remarks couldn’t have come at a better time!💜

This week is busy, so I probably can’t get to it until the weekend, but I’m feeling an apple pie bake fest coming on!🥧🥰 Happy Monday, friends!

So tempted to try selling my services as a professional baby name picker. But I want to keep all the best names for my characters, so . . . maybe that’s not the right fit.

Today, my dad got a phone call no parent ever wants to get. He heard me tell him I was in a serious car accident, injured, and under arrest for a DUI and I needed $30,000 to be bailed out of jail. But it wasn't me. There was no accident. It was an AI scam.

My children just ran in the house to put on swim trunks so their dad can mist them (not direct hits, obviously) with the pressure washer while he cleans the garage door.😆 Almost October, but summer continues, I guess!
