I’m hosting our first Chicago Debate Showcase tonight, and we’ve sold it out.
A little over 150 tickets, plus the speakers, partners and crew who are helping bring this to life. I’m grateful to everyone who took a chance on what we’re building.
I started @SuperDebateClub because I want serious debate to have a bigger place in our culture. Not just something we watch in clips, but something we go out for, participate in, and build communities around.
Tonight is a first step toward that.
It also happens to be my birthday.
Getting to spend it in a packed room with people who care about ideas is a pretty great gift.

We're excited to announce Joshua D. Sarnoff as our next debater for the Chicago Debate Showcase.
Sarnoff is the Raymond P. Niro Professor of Intellectual Property Law at DePaul University College of Law, where he studies how intellectual property law shapes invention, innovation, and the public interest. It's a subject full of live tension: how much protection actually encourages new ideas, and at what point does it start holding them back?
He'll take that question to the stage on October 21st at The Ferris, 1 W. Monroe St. Tickets are $20 and include food and drink.
