Day 4- Talon Haley: in depth Angels prospect report
A high upside prep lefty the Angels went well over slot to sign in the 2025 draft. Haley is a long term development play, but one of the highest-ceiling arms in the system.
Arsenal:
β’ Fastball: 91β94 mph, touches 97, good ride and arm side life
β’ Curveball: sharp power breaker, true swing-and-miss pitch
β’ Slider: firm with tilt, flashes above-average
β’ Changeup: developing fourth pitch, shows feel
Scouting grades (20β80):
FB 55 | CB 60 | SL 55 | CH 50 | Control 50 | Overall 45
Why he works:
Big arm talent, athletic delivery, and real pitch depth for a teenage pitcher. Dominated high school hitters (5β0, 0.55 ERA, 81 Ks in 38 IP) and has the type of raw stuff teams bet on despite the risk.
MLB comp:
James Paxton: power lefty starter traits, wins with velocity and a big breaking ball. Health will determine how far the upside goes.
Projection:
Legitimate starter upside if everything comes together. Ceiling looks like a High end arm with impact stuff.
ETA: 2029
Risk: very high, as expected with prep pitching prospects
This is a swing for serious upside. Long runway, but the talent is real and certainly worth the patience.

11. Talon Haley - LHP - ROK
2025 12th rounder Talon Haley offers three plus offerings from the left side with the fastball, curveball, and slider. Haley's career has been a battle already, and he's faced adversity incredibly well. His future with the Angels looks very bright.

From pediatric cancer survivor to @Angels draft pick, Talon Haley is the definition of strength and perseverance. At just 16, Talon was diagnosed with Hodgkinβs lymphoma, interrupting a promising baseball career as a left-handed pitcher.ποΈ

Talon is a gifted baseball player with a combination of athleticism, discipline, and baseball IQ. A natural leader who competes with intensity but carries himself with humility and class. As a cancer survivor, he knows how to compete when facing adversity.
