Bonnie: Hi Ms. Covington, I’ve finished Wishtree yesterday. Now I’m reading the second time. I think how to make people feel safe is to protect them. 😃😃😃

Book #23 one of next year's #gra for early readers. This book will definitely be good for open class discussions and researching more about Muslim culture and experiences. Also great for bullying and getting to know others before judging #rooneyreads

Book #17 I feel so far behind my goal of 100 books this year. For those who love books like Wonder or Out of My Mind, you'll love this one about a girl with a hemangioma on her face. I can't believe this is the author's debut novel. Well done!

When this is over, we should have parades for health care workers like we did for firefighters and police after 9/11.

Book #8 I enjoy books that offer different perspectives, this one told from the viewpoint of a girl with cerebal palsy. She also has an aging grandfather with dementia. Books like these are good for the soul. #rooneyreads

Book #9 A story about being brave and standing tall. Realistic fiction and I loved the science with astronomy tied into the narration. Addresses poverty, differences, rumors, lies and friendship. #rooneyreads

Fellow white folks, repeat after me:
I DO NOT NEED TO FORMULATE AN OPINION ON WHETHER OR NOT BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD USE THE N-WORD.
Seriously, that's a convo we don't need to be a part of. We don't have to constantly opine on stuff that isn't our business.

What gives me hope? In all my travels around the globe, I have found far more people would rather help than hurt, welcome than shun, love than hate.

Book #82. Sometimes you read books and just know they'll live in your heart forever. This is my Caldecott pick of the year. Stunning and memorable and made for great conversations with my kids tonight. Beauty from within. Thank you @Lupita_Nyongo @VashtiHarrison #rooneyreads

Book #59 #rooneyreads Hilarious. What a brilliant combo of writer @mowilliams and illustrator @dsantat . Fans of Piggie and Gerald will go nuts over this one and I love the story's message. I CAN'T WAIT to read this to students in August.
