Book #57
Perfect first day of school book. Or anytime that you are helping write a classroom pledge. I'll probably have to buy every classroom a copy of this to always have. #rooneyreads
Book #56
It's been awhile since I finished a chapter book-1 month. An amazing read. Not a book for every reader but an important one. Addresses sexual abuse, consent, suicide. It handles these delicate topics very well and is appropriate for the right reader in 4-5. #rooneyreads

My 12yo had a homework assignment to create a timeline of the influential books in her life. I LOVED what she did (and the books she chose!). Inside the books she wrote a blurb about how the book impacted her. ❤️
Book #55 I'm loving this Moby Shinobi series. Perfect for beginner readers! I can't wait to purchase for our library. I'm also buying this series for my own first grader's teacher as a gift because they belong in every primary classroom library. #rooneyreads
Book #54 masterfully written. I don't know how @LaurenWolkBooks continues to put out these wonderfully captivating tales over & over again. This one had me hanging on to every page. Adventure and amazing character development. #rooneyreads
Book #53 Sometimes you just read books where characters live in your heart long after you finished the last page. I loved the story and all the characters. So well-written and I can't wait to share this with my readers this fall. #rooneyreads
Book #52 A great adventure/mystery/fantasy for readers that enjoy Katherine Applegate books or Sheila Turnage (Three Times Lucky). I love the relationship between the girl and the elephant in this sweet middle grade novel. #rooneyreads
Book #51 Great middle grade historical fiction that portrays the teenage life of Betty (who later in life marries Malcom X) #rooneyreads
Book #50 I finished this awhile back but forgot to tweet about it. Great prequel that unfolds the character Coriolanus Snow in his younger days to set the stage for Hunger Games. #rooneyreads
Book #49 We need more books like this in the hands of kids. Great diverse read about a boy who loses his mom to deportation. Strong character development. #WeNeedDiverseBooks #rooneyreads
Book #47 A fun mixture of historical fiction set during the harsh rule of Stalin in the Soviet Union and fantasy with the magic of a witch and a girl unlocking her powers. #rooneyreads
Book #48 Well done for its target audience. This us really perfect to fit that gently lays out the importance of consent, physical boundaries and self-advocation. Made for some great conversations with my own kid. #rooneyreads
Book #46 Beautiful illustrations and story about the life cycle if a robin. Would be great for #elementaryscience . #rooneyreads
Book #45 A fun kinder read where kids make shapes with their bodies. Nothing special but my 7-year-old loved it and we spent some time making our own. #kindermath #rooneyreads
Book #44 Relevant & great perspective on black lives matter told from a 12 year old narrator. Also great for tweens dealing with friendship, sports and overall navigating how to speak up for what's right or wrong in this world. Can't wait to recommend to my students. #rooneyreads
