So many things happening here. 1. George Santos is a voter in PA8? 2. PA Dems called him to canvass??? 3. He’s considering supporting Shapiro????
Democrats are legitimately calling the opposition! What are we doing @GOP @PAGOP ??? 🤯

I didn’t really visit the area in the red circle until I was 30
I forget there’s more to Pennsylvania than the red circle

Independents traditionally haven’t performed well in Pennsylvania so this is uh … wow

Up to 331 now in SD-46. Borello has a 2-point lead currently. We'll contact more folks tomorrow at 2 PM Eastern to get a larger sample size.

Almost 80% of the votes cast in PA so far come from registered Dems, exceeding the Dem share from this point in 2024 and 2022. Dems could pick up 3-4 congressional seats in the state.

This is what assimilating to Pittsburgh culture looks like
Mike Tomlin was a Super Bowl-winning coach and yet his heart truly belonged to urban planning in a midsized, sustainable city.

your thesis is basically right, they voted the ~same in 1992 and 2020 after OH caught up but 2012 (when nate map starts) was the year with the widest gap

I’ve thought about this a lot. My guess is some combination of different demographics and Western PA having gone through the worst of deindustrialization earlier than much of Ohio.
This map was more interesting than I was expecting. Note that deep red streak in Appalachian/southeastern Ohio. But it's not really present in similar counties in Pennsylvania.

It's understandable that people are gunshy about trusting polling but... in PA we have real world numbers on what party regular folks are affirming when they show up to renew their driver's licenses and... it's not pretty for the GOP 🤷‍♀️

If I have a PA Senate ’28 take, it’s that I’m worried Democrats won’t be able to overcome the state’s Republican lean and Reed will coast to reelection. He’ll have the PGH Republican machine and the Mellons behind him and Hoover at the top of the ticket probably doesn’t hurt.

Being a FO can suck at times, but I started in politics as a paid canvasser and I don’t think I would have been as effective as an organizer, data director, and eventually CM if I hadn’t spent all those hours talking to voters and vols. It’s foundational work.

Back in the day I tried to map out these divisions, and I think the line between Central and Upper Bucks is pretty clear. The big question is whether “Lower Bucks” is really a geographic region or a socioeconomic one.
Our news orgs have always used the map on the left to mark lower, central, and upper Bucks County. Those borders are often used by governments too. Seems to culturally line up. However, a township official just sent me the map on the right he found in an old PDF in their system.
