What brings them together is their belief that Islam is a superior religion, and a superior form of government. This is called Islamism. His marriage to an Indian wife is not diversity, but the Islamist connection. The Islamist allegiance to states they are citizens of is usually ceremonial. His non Muslim voters are globalists who don’t understand the menace of cross-national identity.
