Love it at the time! Re-read it a yr ago, & loved it even more!
It's just a fun story, with some great ideas, & a few really clever lines & moments.
Also makes a good use of the Alternate History arc whilst doing something a bit different.
A contender for a place in the NA Top 10

Having only read this for the first time last year (while on holiday in Mexico), it was interesting to head back to Kate's first book.
There are some very good ideas here, but perhaps a tad too many to do them all justice, feeling at times like "this might me my only chance" 1/2

Kate had been contributing stories to what felt like every fanzine in Australia for years and was part of the extended group I used to kick around with in the late 80s to early 90s. When she told us she had got a story accepted by Virgin, we were over the moon. Incredible. 1/2

(1/3 Having started reading the NAs at the tail end of the run and proceeded to the EDAs, I read this late in the day and the rapid f-bomb worded dialogue came across as a bit of a jarring moment. However, I very much enjoyed the novel from the outset, and particularly liked how

In this episode, Tim is joined by three key members and trustees of the Film is Fabulous! team: established film collector John Franklin, De Montfort University’s Professor Justin Smith, and Sue Malden, the renowned former Head of Broadcast Archives at the BBC.
