Small poll, please only respond if you are interested in attending our events in person in the future. What do you think would be the best "talk start" time that makes it most convenient for you to attend? (meetup then runs ~2.5h)

- Rails engines - Microservices - SPAs - Service objects One of the things I'm most looking forward to in writing Growing Large Rails Applications is explaining why each of these ways of attempting to manage complexity in Rails apps is neither necessary nor helpful.

I'm still very surprised by senior+ devs who insist on making complicated solutions to complex problems. It often feels like a way to show how "smart" they are. I feel like the real smart solution for a complex problem is one that feels simple.

A friend's parents have taken in a family fleeing from Ukraine & the dad is a civil engineer but started learning to #code a few months ago. He is looking for a trainee/junior position in #Berlin. Experience mostly with frontend/javascript. DM for more info/resume. Thanks!

Just listened to „The Holiday Gift Guide Episode“ of @therubyonrails podcast and one of @BrittJMartin‘s picks was this cool @LLBean Tech Tode. I want it!! But it’s sold out 😞 Anybody knows about an alternative?

One of the most harmful things I see developers doing to their RSpec test suites is attempting to DRY them up. It results in spaghetti tests that are: 👓 hard to read 🏗️ hard to change 🚫 create vast amounts of unnecessary data 🪢 tightly coupled to each other

TRAIN FROM LONDON -> GENEVA 🧵 trying reduce my carbon footprint, and a key part of that is eliminating short-haul flights ✈️ So last week, I travelled from London to Geneva & back by train for the first time 🚆 TLDR: it was great! 🤩 Reflections in the thread below 👇

Thanks to @christoomey and @_bikeshed I just learned about this great git feature 🥳 I remember @tiagotex changing our entire Rails code base at @liefery_tech from single quotes to double quotes and this commit constantly appearing when using git-blame 🤯
TIL: git-blame has a feature to ignore or bypass certain commits. You can set this file as a default ignore file for blame by running the following command: $ git config blame.ignoreRevsFile .git-blame-ignore-revs
