I wish I had known sooner that all of @Ubiquiti’s UDM line doesn’t have hardware acceleration on PPPoE and barely achieve 1Gbps over those links on the older SoCs.

Their non rack-formatted cloud gateways do have hardware acceleration for PPPoE but then lack PoE & 3.5” HDD slot for the NVR.

I finally was able to compile and build a real iOS app from Linux, using @bazelbuild and distributed Linux workers. I used @Dimillian's IceCube app, got Codex to modularize it to allow parallel Swift compile actions, and let it loose on 100s of cheap remote Linux workers!

And it has now moved under the hermeticbuild org and available in the @bazelbuild BCR under `rules_zig`. It is battle tested, powers all zig compilation at @zml_ai, give it a try ! Link below ⬇️
I've been working extensively on the @bazelbuild ruleset for @ziglang this past 12 months. In today's release: - Integrate zig with any other language - Use a Zig compiler compiled from (your) sources - Cross language LTO - ZLS support - Translate-C

I will say again, if you want a permanent time, make it Standard Time, otherwise much of the US gets dark winter mornings with sunrise after 8am. Daylight Saving may be OK for Florida, but nowhere else. This movement always comes out of Florida.
🚨 JUST IN: President Trump announces legislation has ADVANCED to make PERMANENT Daylight Saving Time through the Sunshine Protection Act — and demands Congress make it LAW 🔥 No more time changes soon! "This is so important in that Hundreds of Millions of Dollars are spent every year by people, Cities, and States, being forced to change their Clocks. Many of these Clocks are located in Towers, and the cost of renting, or using, Heavy Equipment to do this twice a year is prohibitive!" "The House will be attaching The Sunshine Protection Act to “The Highway Bill.” Great work by Troy Nehls, and all of the Members who voted, as well, for Railway Safety." "I am going to work very hard to see The Sunshine Protection Act signed into Law. It’s time that people can stop worrying about the “Clock,” not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production." "It will also be a very nice WIN for the Republican Party. Take it! We are going with the far more popular alternative, Saving Daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter Day — And who can be against that — This is an easy one! Thank you to everyone who supported this important Bill, and especially Chairman Brett Guthrie and Vern Buchanan. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

The goal of California High Speed Rail is to be a state wide rail network that connects almost every major CA city together. Subsidizing free flights instead makes 0 sense here lmao
If you gave away $126 billion to subsidize free flights between LA and San Francisco at current demand levels, you could fund roughly 150 to 200 years of travel before the money runs out.

Just made my call as an SF resident, it only takes a minute!
California’s chance to Legalize Nuclear Energy is here. Supporters should call members of our Natural Resources Committee tomorrow, Friday April 10th, and tell them to Vote Yes on AB 2647 Instructions below! Let’s make history!

Big headline, luckily not as scary as it looks, but an important lesson... The FBI extracted Signal messages from a defendant's iPhone even after the app was deleted. Here's what actually happened and what to do 🧵

Incredible post. I had no idea the industrial policy that helped spawn the world's biggest semiconductor manufacturer traces directly back to the New Deal's Tennessee Valley Authority.
Neat profile of Taiwan's "Industrial Technology Research Institute", a government-funded lab which helped spin out TSMC and much of Taiwan's chip industry. One of the most impressive industrial policy plays of all time. asteriskmag.com/issues/13/th…

Trump is just the trigger. There are deep historical forces: The dismantling of the FCC fairness doctrine by Reagan, the resulting emergence of Fox News, conservative talk radio, and other propaganda outlets, the removal of guardrails for the influence of money in politics (e.g. Citizen United), the continuous reduction of taxes on high incomes, the ever-increasing wealth and income inequalities enabled by the above, the stagnation of working class income despite continued increase in productivity (and corporate profits), the total lack of social protection and benefits compared to other developed countries. People in the middle class and below have been screwed for 40 years and are angry. They should be angry at Republicans. But the Republican party has managed to deflect their anger towards immigrants, non-Christians, non-whites, liberals, LGBT, China, academia, intellectual "elites", scientists, journalists, and non-existent scarecrows like Antifa.

Power is being restored in many parts of San Francisco, but PG&E says about 40,000 customers may remain without electricity overnight. If you are still without power: • Use flashlights instead of candles to reduce fire risk • Check on neighbors, especially seniors and people with medical needs • Keep refrigerators and freezers closed as much as possible • If using space heaters, keep them at least 3 feet from anything flammable Call 911 only for life-threatening emergencies. For outage updates and restoration times, continue to check PG&E’s website: pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/out… For power outage safety tips: sf.gov/power-outages

I honestly do not understand why there is an api for apps to access your contacts at all, and why modern iOS doesn’t just unconditionally deny apps that call -[CNContactStore requestAccess].
How are apps still doing this? Companies: stop asking users to upload their address books. And everyone else: refuse to upload your address book to random apps and social media platforms. The contacts in your phone are not your data. It’s other people’s data.
