As @btaylor just announced we’re publishing the first draft of Personal Agent Protocol, known as Poppy — and announcing 35 new design partners. With Poppy, customers decide what access to give their personal agents, and companies set parameters for what those agents can do. It’s built on open standards businesses already use, and designed to work through websites, APIs, and company agents. This is a starting point — we welcome feedback from companies, developers, and personal agent builders to help shape this new protocol. Read more here: sierra.ai/blog/poppy or read the draft here: personalagentprotocol.org/.
On Tuesday, Sierra announced Personal Agent Protocol with Meta, Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart. The response has been incredible and today we’re publishing the first draft of the protocol at personalagentprotocol.org and announcing 35 new design partners. As personal agents take on more, our goal is simple: consumers have choice and control, and companies know when they’re dealing with an agent and who it represents. This draft is a starting point. We’d love for companies, developers, and personal agent builders to read it, give feedback, and help us build an open standard together.

ChatGPT Work can now use its computer and browser to sign in to websites on web and mobile, without ChatGPT ever seeing your username or password. That means you can ask it to: • Set up utilities for a new apartment • Book a DMV or passport appointment • Check reimbursement costs through your insurance • Find and book an in-network doctor around your availability • Check when your car registration expires and prepare the renewal paperwork • Compare your rental insurance policy with an issue you’re emailing your landlord about • Find and save apartment listings that match your criteria • Restock something just by uploading a photo • Schedule a package pickup for a return • Cancel tickets for a rescheduled trip • Book a vet appointment • Submit reimbursement paperwork for medical treatments • Check resale sites for new drops and save things you might like • Find candidates with specific experience and draft outreach • Take invoices from your email and submit them to your accounting software • Draft replies to rental property inquiries • Fill out permit applications for your small business • Add action items to a vendor portal based on a recent client call • Analyze the latest ad campaign for your small business

Basically: if it’s something you’d normally have to open a browser and click through yourself, try asking ChatGPT Work to do it. Logging into websites is rolling out today on web and mobile for Plus, Pro, and Business users.

The unlock for agents will not come from trusting the model. It will come from building a system that understands what “done” means and improves its ability to verify it. Imagine asking an agent to write release notes across 1,247 commits. It returns a polished draft, but the comparison API paginated at 1,000 commits and the agent never followed the cursor. The result looks complete even though 247 commits never entered the context. These checks do not prove that the release notes are well written. They establish something more fundamental: that the agent received the complete inputs and produced an internally consistent result. Verification produces the fact, and authorization consumes it. Do not promote the model. Promote the loop, and let the loop learn. Illustrative code: github.com/nancyzwang/verifi… Blog: 1password.com/blog/verified-…

Agents are starting to act across real systems. The missing layer is identity, access, and accountability. This Saturday, Keith Enright, Chief Strategy Officer at Harvey AI and former Google Chief Privacy Officer, and @dawnsongtweets, UC Berkeley professor and leading AI security researcher, will join us to share their perspectives on one of the most important problems in the agentic stack. Apply to join. Come build with @1Password at AGI House: app.agihouse.org/events/agen…

Agents are already in production: calling APIs, managing credentials, spawning sub-agents. Almost none have real identity. Who authorized this agent? What is it permitted to do? When one agent delegates to another, how does authorization propagate — and how is it revoked? On June 27, we're partnering with @1Password for a full day of building and pressure-testing solutions to the identity, trust, and auditability layer of autonomous systems. Doors at 10. Keynote at 11. Demos at 8. Come with an idea or find one in the room. Apply to join — we’d be glad to have you. app.agihouse.org/events/agen…

Proud to see our work on agent security @openai highlighted in Forbes. Securing AI agents means bringing identity, credential, and access controls directly into the developer workflow, and Codex is a major step in that direction. forbes.com/sites/timkeary/20…

On the AI Summit stage @WebSummit Vancouver, @NancyZWang joined @scribeceo, @YayLT, CEO at @Webflow, and @johnkoetsier, columnist @Forbes, to address the gap between model performance and what organizations are actually getting. The bottleneck isn't the models. It's the missing context layer, the governance gaps, and identity challenges that traditional security frameworks weren't built for. "Agents aren't just machines. They can reason. They're non-deterministic. And so even if they have the right access, the question now becomes: are they actually going to do the right thing? Agents need their own identity and a way to bind intent to that identity so they can be monitored as they get access to sensitive systems." #WebSummit #1Password #AI #WebSummitVancouver

You’re invited to our next AI Explained: “AI Agents Have an Identity Complex” 🔐with @1Password VP of Engineering, Developer and AI, Jeff Malnick! AI agents need access that changes in real time as they reason through what to do next. Most security frameworks were built for humans, not systems that decide their own scope. We will be covering: → What separates agent identity from machine identity and why static security policy breaks when agents can reason → Where Zero Trust enforcement has to live in an agent workflow and why real-time attestation beats standing policy → How to provision and scope agent credentials automatically without blocking the systems that depend on them 📅 May 14, 2026 at 10am PST 🔗 Register: fiddler.ai/webinars/ai-expla… #AgentIdentity #AISecurity #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #LLMOps #GenAI #AIAgent

Had a blast with @robbyrussell. If only my mic hadn't died a few minutes before the recording...
In this episode of On Rails, @jmeller (VP of Product at @1Password) talks to @robbyrussell about how Rails has become one of the most token-efficient architectures for LLM-assisted development, and why that matters as token costs increasingly shape what’s practical (and profitable) to build. They also dive into security in agentic workflows, an area getting harder to ignore. Jason breaks down what 1Password’s open-source SCAM benchmark reveals about how LLMs handle credentials, where risks emerge when models act autonomously in developer environments, and what teams can do now to stay ahead. One detail from this story: the AI finding credentials laying around. I have moved to scrub all credentials stored anywhere in plaintext on my system. No more .env, no more ~/.aws/credentials, etc. I use fnox with a 1password backend.
