On Random but Memorable, Brad Thies of @barradvisory explains how to govern AI agents and the importance of least privilege.
Implementing the correct policies and controls will ensure that agent access doesn't derail your next audit.

Auditors don't assess intent, they assess evidence.
A closed offboarding ticket proves the process started. It doesn't prove the access came off.
1Password timestamps access removal, so deprovisioning is a dated record rather than an assumption.
How many of your deployed detections have you actually watched fire?
A detection written for an attack technique that's never happened in your environment has no logs to test against, so it usually ships because it looks correct.
We're closing that gap with AI-driven adversary emulation. Before a detection ships, an AI model matches it to a real attack technique. Our pipeline runs that technique in an isolated cloud environment using credentials pulled from 1Password Connect at runtime.
In our latest article, we share how it works and where it still falls short.

69% of enterprises have already deployed AI agents.
451 Research calls traditional identity and privileged access management "structurally inadequate" for governing them, and tells leaders to treat this as an architectural reset rather than a tooling upgrade.

As @btaylor just announced we’re publishing the first draft of Personal Agent Protocol, known as Poppy — and announcing 35 new design partners.
With Poppy, customers decide what access to give their personal agents, and companies set parameters for what those agents can do. It’s built on open standards businesses already use, and designed to work through websites, APIs, and company agents.
This is a starting point — we welcome feedback from companies, developers, and personal agent builders to help shape this new protocol. Read more here: sierra.ai/blog/poppy or read the draft here: personalagentprotocol.org/.
On Tuesday, Sierra announced Personal Agent Protocol with Meta, Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart. The response has been incredible and today we’re publishing the first draft of the protocol at personalagentprotocol.org and announcing 35 new design partners.
As personal agents take on more, our goal is simple: consumers have choice and control, and companies know when they’re dealing with an agent and who it represents.
This draft is a starting point. We’d love for companies, developers, and personal agent builders to read it, give feedback, and help us build an open standard together.

Let Claude Code build. Let 1Password handle the secrets. 🔐
Our new plugin for Claude Code lets you build with your agent while 1Password gives your app secure access to the credentials it needs, keeping secret values out of the model’s context.

We’re excited to announce the AI assistant in 1Password SaaS Manager is now available, helping teams get answers about their AI and SaaS environment in seconds.
With the new AI assistant teams can get:
✅Written answers based on their SaaS Manager data
✅Links to relevant views with filters and sorting already applied
✅Visibility into application spend, access risk, ownership, contracts, and AI usage
✅Read-only results, so teams can review information without changing their environment
In our latest blog, we share how the assistant helps IT, Finance, and technology leaders query the same information, make faster software and AI spend decisions, all while ensuring security and privacy controls are at the forefront of every interaction.

Security shouldn't get in the way of developer productivity.
Ryan Case, Senior Cybersecurity Leader at @storableinc, shares why he's so excited about Apono joining 1Password as 1Password Privileged Access:
✅The ability to handle authentication and authorization in a single control plane
✅A near frictionless user experience that drives high developer adoption
✅Unmatched Support from the Privileged Access Customer Experience team
Storable uses 1Password Privileged Access for access management developers will actually use.
AI agents shouldn’t inherit standing access.
For developers building agentic workflows, the access model needs to shift toward:
🔵 Just-in-time, just-enough access
🔵 Runtime authorization based on identity and context
🔵 Continuous monitoring and auditability
🔵 Automatic revocation when the task is complete
@zkerravala, founder of ZK Research, sat down with Aashish Tripathi, VP of Product Strategy at @1Password to discuss what secure agent access should look like bit.ly/46QmawG
We’re excited to announce 1Password for @NVIDIA OpenShell, a new integration that helps developers give AI agents access to the systems they need without exposing credentials in the agent’s context.
Developers can connect 1Password Environments to OpenShell sandboxes, specify approved destinations, and set when that access expires. Agents can get useful work done, while developers and security teams stay in control of the credentials and the boundaries around them.
1Password for NVIDIA OpenShell is available now as a developer preview.

Credential leaks continue to happen, even though the controls for human identity have been available for years.
Matt Moore, co-founder and CTO of @chainguard_dev, joins @NancyzWang and Dev Tagare to discuss how security changes when credentials belong to people, machines, and AI agents moving through the SDLC.
The controls differ, but the standard is the same; credentials should be protected and scoped, and every use should be attributable.
✅ People need MFA, secure credential storage, and SSO where it fits
✅ AI agents need short-lived, least-privilege access
✅ Keep raw secrets out of agent context where possible, and broker access at runtime
✅ Trace actions to the agent and its authorizing human or service
The gap sits between what teams know works and what's actually deployed.

We're partnering with @TownAI to bring 1Password's secure access to their assistant, so it can log in and get the job done without ever seeing your passwords. Your team decides what it can reach, and that access can be pulled back anytime. Town handles the work, and we handle the keys. More to come!

we’re proud to be partnering with @1Password so Muse will be able to work with the logins you already have.
more details on how we built all of this here: security.muse.ai
We're excited to partner with @Meta to bring @1Password to @Muse, a new personal AI agent that helps you get things done across every part of your life. Muse is built with a secure credential store, and soon with 1Password, that extends to the password vault you already have. You’re in control of every request to access these credentials.
More coming soon!
We’re excited to collaborate with Instinct on safer experiences that help people share the credentials they choose, when they choose, while keeping security and control at the center. More to come.
Instinct + 1Password
32% of Instinct users already securely share their credentials with Instinct through our Vault. Today, we’re excited to announce our partnership with @1Password . Together, we are working with 1Password to roll out a product integration that enables users to seamlessly and securely share their credentials with Instinct.
Our users already use Instinct’s Vault to:
- Log in to loyalty accounts to book flights and hotels with points
- Manage streaming, software, and other recurring subscription accounts
- Book or cancel restaurant, fitness, and event reservations
- Sign in to healthcare portals to schedule and cancel appointments
- Easy access to tax, payroll, benefits, and expense management services
Together with 1Password, we’re working toward a future where people can share their credentials without compromising on security or control.
We’ll be rolling this out across our early access group.
If you’re not already in the platform, join at app.instinct.com/login.
