My statement on behalf of Camden, offering our thoughts and condolences to the families and friends of the bereaved, and injured in the terrible incident in Southport.
We condemn the violence and intimidation that followed, in Southport and elsewhere.

Delighted to have added the first reference to the new Labour govt to the financial report I am taking to Camden's cabinet next week.
Even w/out extra £s, giving councils multi-year funding settlements & ending wasteful competitive bidding will enable us to plan services better.

Tory line to take in the right wing rags today is that Labour VAT on school fees will see 40,000 leave the private sector. The same Tories and the same rags said in 1997 that the minimum wage would cost a million jobs. Lying about Labour is in their DNA. And why are the Beeb swallowing the Farage BS line about the establishment plot rather than covering the reality of the situation - the racists and extremists who are on the ballot for the party he owns

Keir Starmer, "I was worried at the time at the way in which the debate was being conducted. It got very toxic, very divided, very hardlined, and we lost sight of people in that"
"That dragged us to a place where the Prime MInister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, made a trans joke in parliament, when the mother of the murdered trans teenager was watching on. That was a shocking place to get to"
Lady in pink, "How will you reduce the effect of a poliralised politics?"
Keir Starmer, "I want to return politics to service.. I want to take the opportunity to bring the country together.. Over the past 10-15 years politics has become divided and toxic.. People are trying to find the differences between us rather than the points of connection"
"Jo Cox who was tragically murdered, was a good friend of mine, we came into parliament at the same time.. What she said in her maiden speech: that we have far more in common than what divides us"
"During the pandemic people were looking out for each other.. We are a good country, reasonable and tolerant.. Live and let live if we don't go down the politics of division"

Really pleased to see @Georgia_Gould receive an OBE. Well deserved.
Georgia has been a fantastic leader of @CamdenCouncil and done so much not just to protect public services in the face of austerity, but to drive their reform and innovation to make them better.
