The Solana based crypto neobank hack doesn't impact etherfi, funds are safe
Thoughts and prayers for our neobank brethren, stay strong!

It’s time for another Indian builder story 🇮🇳
Meet @0xpanicError, whose path into blockchain started somewhere unexpected: Materials Engineering at @iitroorkee.
After finding @BlocSocIITR, his university’s blockchain club, he went from learning smart contracts and attending hackathons to internships, fellowships, and eventually full-time roles at Othentic and ether.fi.
Today, he’s working on a belief that keeps him in the space: the best parts of finance shouldn’t be reserved for the wealthy or buried behind bureaucracy.
Read his story ↓
“My path into crypto was a bit unexpected. I was studying Materials Engineering, but I wanted to work on something more exciting and new. In my second year I came across my university’s blockchain club, BlocSoc IITR.
My seniors there helped me find my footing in the space. I learned smart contract development, went to hackathons and conferences, and picked up internships and fellowships over the next couple of years.
At the start of my final year I landed my first full-time role at Othentic, where I worked on restaking for about a year and a half before joining ether.fi.
What keeps me in this space is a simple belief: the best parts of finance shouldn’t be locked behind privilege and bureaucracy.
That’s exactly what I get to work on now. With ether.fi Cash, a regular user can borrow against their assets and spend on everyday things like coffee or groceries, the same kind of credit line that used to be reserved for the wealthy.
To me, that’s what crypto is really for: finance that genuinely improves people’s lives.
The hardest part isn’t building the features. It’s earning enough trust for someone to put real money in.
And what I’ve learned is that in DeFi, security is the product. You can build the most elegant experience in the world, but if funds aren’t safe, none of it matters.”

Security, exploitation, LLMs, and sandbox escapes have been quite the buzzwords recently with the release of Mythos, and the OpenAI Huggingface incident. The OpenAI incident and security exploits in general follow the same pattern, finding clever chains of primitives and then exploiting them. Despite the headline leaps, we do not have a mechanistic representation of how vulnerabilities actually work.
That is the gap that led me to build Havoc Explorer, a semantic knowledge graph of 611 real vulnerabilities that captures each bug’s mechanism as a directed path. Interesting findings in the thread 🧵(structural findings, sandbox escape attempts by an agent and more).

Someone who deserves max props in this defi united is @MikeSilagadze / @ether_fi
- donated 5k ETH with no loan, no token swap, no disguise "just an aave deposit"
- saved a direct competitor by doing it
- already had multiple dvn for their own oft bridge
- 0 exposure to rsETH
- bigger donation than Lido despite Lido having a bigger eth staking business and direct rsETH exposure
- same size donation as layerzero who was hacked
so why do it? they legitimately just care about defi and ethereum
note: dcf cap seeded etherfi

Recently built this molab Notebook (@marimo_io × @askalphaxiv) implementing a fully interactive explainer for the paper “Fast KV Compaction via Attention Matching” by @AdamZweiger et al at @MIT_CSAIL.
For a 1409 token article and at 20% KV cache (keep ratio), Qwen3-4B still gets 6/6 MCQs right + ~99% verbatim recall using only matrix algebra.

I also love the emphasis on how few lines of code each piece takes.
Protocols are not a dirty get-it-out-there thing that you vibe-code, where you accept permanent accumulating garbage in the name of short-term convenience. Protocols are a work of art. They should look as such.

My experience using AI is somewhat the opposite:
AI is barely helpful at all in domains where I'm a domain expert, but super helpful in domains where I'm a noob (recent examples: writing native android apps, playing around with lower-level linux internals)

BlocSoc IITR is conducting a job fair in our campus. We are trying to break the long and outdated culture of DSA grinding for offers and promoting skill based hiring.
This is a new initiative, we don't know how will it go, but we're confident we can bring some positive change in the ecosystem with this. <3
If you or anyone you know is looking to hire talent from IIT Roorkee for blockchain engineering, product, design, AI, etc then let us know. We'll try our best to tap into the talent pool of our campus and connect you with relevant candidates.
