A #Dogliving Standard Don't show me that you use your own product. Show me the life your product claims to serve. Show me that the life existed before the tool. Show me the people, practices, obligations, dependencies, failures, and repairs that would remain if the tool disappeared tomorrow. Show me where the tool enters that life, and show me that it can leave without taking the life with it. Show me a week in which people are mostly doing the thing, rather than talking about the tool for doing the thing. Show me what happens when somebody fails to show up, refuses, changes their mind, needs care, cannot pay, or disagrees with what the system says. Show me that the builders themselves have enough at stake that failure is experienced as more than product feedback. Dogfooding asks: Would you use what you built? Dogliving asks: Are you living what you claim to serve? The strongest evidence is not a testimonial, a dashboard, or a demo. It is a life that makes sense without the software, and works a little better with it.

Dogfooding is still product-first. You build something, then try to live with what you built. I appreciate that ... But I keep looking for the opposite order. Dogliving: live the life first, then see whether the product belongs in it. Live the week you actually want to live. Who do you answer to? Who depends on you? What gets forgotten? What happens when somebody cannot show up, when care is needed, when a promise becomes inconvenient, when something simply fails? Then bring the tool into that week and see whether it survives. A clear concept and a beautiful UX can both be real achievements while the actual use remains mostly the work of describing, demonstrating, and administering the tool itself. I think this is what troubles me when software designers talk about community, mutuality, reciprocity, and care. I hear a great deal about the systems they are building for those things, and much less about the actual forms of dependence and reciprocity in their own lives. Who are they caring for? Who cares for them? What obligations have they accepted? What do they give without optimization? Where have these practices become difficult, inconvenient, or costly? ...I wonder whether the attraction of the tool is precisely the hope that we can transcend the messiness of the life it claims to serve.... Everyone's private life doesn't have to become evidence for their product. .... yet I want to know where the center of gravity is. Is the tool being created in service of a life that is already being attempted? Or is the imagined life gradually being constructed in service of the tool? Is the tool in the life, or is the life in the tool?

It was a VERY significant Livestream on Thursday. If you didn't catch it yet: HCF spawned a new org, a reorientation towards growth, and the HOT-HoloFuel Migration date was announced: youtube.com/watch?v=XO05JTKn…

In 2016, @Steam let users pay with Bitcoin. By 2017, they stopped. Why? Volatility. You can't run a business on a bet. 🎲 We just published a deep dive on why functional economies need a completely different kind of currency. Read it here: holo.host/blog/you-cant-run-… #Crypto #Web3 #Holochain #DeFi

If you know how to read Holo's latest updates, they just confirmed something huge. Wind Tunnel testing racing past 50+ edge nodes. Regulation blog dropping regulatory frameworks. This isn't a coincidence. When you're stress-testing industrial-grade infrastructure AND simultaneously navigating MiCA compliance, EU regulatory frameworks, and "thoughtful regulation for real economy integration"... You're not preparing for retail chat apps. You're preparing for institutions. Connect the dots: - "Regulation only matters when you're building something that touches the real economy. We are." - "We aren't just building a network for chat apps. We are building industrial-grade infrastructure to bridge entire economic ecosystems." - Wind Tunnel pushing exponential node complexity because "in a P2P system, adding nodes is exponential geometry." Translation: Major institutions want to create their own economic frameworks with @unytco. Banks don't stress-test 50+ nodes for fun. Financial institutions don't navigate MiCA compliance for small experiments. When Holo talks about "bridging entire economic ecosystems" and needing "industrial-grade infrastructure," while simultaneously getting regulatory frameworks bulletproof... That's institutional money knocking. MiCA compliance isn't for retail users - it's specifically required for EU banks and major financial institutions to engage with crypto assets. When you see a project prioritising MiCA frameworks, you're looking at institutional preparation. And if you've been following #holochain's patent activity over the years, you'll notice some interesting names in the financial sector have been paying attention... The $HOT -> HoloFuel timing makes sense now: They can't launch HoloFuel until: - Infrastructure can handle institutional load (Wind Tunnel) - Regulatory framework is bulletproof (MiCA compliance) - Economic bridges are tested (Unyt EVM integration) This isn't about retail users. This is about major institutions. And when institutions start running their own economic layers on Holochain/Unyt... $HOT holders who've been diamond-handing for 6+ years are positioned for something much bigger than anyone imagined when this started. Reading between the lines: The delay isn't technical debt. It's institutional preparation.

Major Holochain Milestone.. 🎉 We've built our MVP for our decentralised authorisation system. All user data is written and stored to a Holochain DHT on the recently released Holo Hosting Edge Node. Look how quick it is!! Almost instantly, it creates Holochain key pairs and returns the Agent ID. Time to build out the product. Will test first on @YourOwnAI, then release.

How does truly desirable social coherence evolve? 🤔 Centralization creates brittle stability. We need Uncapturable Carriers & Engagement Spaces that enable continuous evolution. Local state > global consensus. Reflections from the DWeb Seminar: blog.holochain.org/how-does-…

Censorship is about creating differences in volume between voices, and there are two primary modes of doing it Mode 1: Turning down the volume (silencing): the most ancient forms of this are simple acts of shunning (i.e. a community not listening to some people, and excluding them) but of course we nowadays also have official institutional versions of this (e.g. state censorship, corporate shadow-banning etc) Mode 2: Turning up the volume (drowning out): this is the most overlooked form of censorship. For example, Elon Musk simply turns up his own voice so that all else seems quiet by contrast People like Musk claim to fight Mode 1 censorship on platforms like X, while heavily exploiting Mode 2 censorship. The ‘flood the zone’ tactic is also an example of Mode 2 censorship These forms cut across each other at different levels. For example, in conservative culture there’s heavy historical shunning and silencing of, for example, gay and trans people, but it coexists alongside heavy conservative criticism of official ‘political correctness’, the institutional shunning of those who shun at a community level Hope you find this helpful
