I am using the Block Bindings API --> after watching developer hours videos and viewing the supplemental notes from @justintadlock and @nickmdiego -- I was able to get the parts (post_meta, block variation) working properly in my "synced pattern override".

I saw this forum question & wondered if it's expected behavior and if it's "fixable" with a query loop block variation. wordpress.org/support/topic/… - does each post need the parent AND child category assigned or is there some change needed to QLB? @ryanwelcher @nickmdiego
After hallway hangout by @nickmdiego @ryanwelcher (w/ xtra research) I was able to create 2 variations of query loop block 🙂 (change to orderby: post__in) -works on front end. I was able to set postType but was unable to set most of the variation's "query default attributes"😕
I've been "working thru" tutorial as shared in meetup from @justintadlock + @nickmdiego for the "icon in a separator block" (not sure I understand all of the code stuff yet) - so far I've done part 1 + 2 ----and it works for me! I had one error which I was able to repair. ⭐️
Thanks @nickmdiego and @justintadlock for gracefully answering my questions...I realize some of them were more basic compared to the topic of extending custom block styles. I am still trying to wrap my mind around all of the options for building with blocks.
