First day in Thailand. Desperately looking for something resembling a running gel.
Couldn't find anything better, so this will have to do for my long run.
25 minutes at 4:40/km.
I think I have enough speed. The part I’m still building is endurance, being able to keep something close to this pace for longer without it turning into a different run.
Tempo run so I don’t forget how to run fast. The weekly mileage is going up and I’m starting to feel the familiar sensation of accumulated fatigue.
How do you see marathon blocks once you’ve already finished a couple?
During the first one there are a lot of firsts: highest weekly volume ever, longest run ever, usually peaking endurance. You might get these in following blocks, but it feels different.
I feel like my excitement for the second block is much lower than during the first.
I still aim high and want to achieve the goal time, but it feels familiar and less exciting, while the hunger is still there.
Two easy runs later, I went for a modified long run. Seven kilometers at easy pace, then six at 5:20/km, and finished the rest at easy pace again. Since I still don't feel completely healthy, I'll keep the 20+ km long run for the next week.
Catching a cold the day before your first 20+ km long run of the marathon block isn’t ideal.
Do you still go when you’re not feeling 100% or do you rest until you feel ready?
Fast intervals, 5 x 1 km @ 4:20/km. Almost can't believe I finished a 5k race at this pace a month ago.
The days of sketchy cleanup software that wrecks your OS are over. I used Opus 5.5 to revive my old MacBook Air: tracking down cache files, stale dependencies, and duplicates that were hard to trace.
