Actually insane levels of detail, imagination, and overall vision.
Welcome to Tomjohnville. tomjohn.design I built a bunch of new portfolios over the last year. Hated all of them. I've told other designers that these should feel like a playground, not a portfolio, and nothing I made felt playful enough. Decided that it was finally time to follow my own advice. So I made my portfolio a game. It's got my whole career. Every place I've worked, with actual people I've worked with for characters, in the real buildings (well the @vercel pyramid isn't real but it should be) and details about my life. Drive my real truck. You can even tow my real camper. (more with this coming soon) Read everything I've written, watch videos I've made. I've uploaded way more work here than I've ever had online in one place before. There's secrets, inventory, achievements, and soon there's gonna be missions. Come on by. Have fun. And don't forget to sign the guestbook.

I like how you can slap a Tesla’s hand if it does something wrong and tell it why, but I wish you could pet it to say it did a good job. I’ve been trying to train it the right way to enter and leave our neighborhood and it’s finally getting it and I want to say β€œgood job!”

One hour into iOS 27 and already found an aggravating oversight. I have my calendar starting on Monday. Calendar default view respects this. When I go to create an event, it switches to starting on Sunday. This worked fine an hour ago when I was on iOS 26. smh

I literally only bought a tesla so I could have my phone in front of my face for my entire commute. I can leave work early, get so much done on the hour drive home. I don’t even care that I got pulled over with a warning, like officer this is the future.

Absolutely epic game of Dune: Imperium tonight.

Finally watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and it cemented Martin McDonagh as one of my favorite current directors. Absolute masterclass in directing and in each of the acting roles. Cant wait for Wild Horse Nine later this year.

I made the sun in SETI board game shine.

Playing Cthulhu Death May Die and simultaneously wishing it was October but thankful it’s not so we can have all the spooky time possible.

Love that Apple went for legit stopmotion animation here. Really well executed and hope to see more like this.
Here is Apple's launch video for the new M6 Mac mini

We’re still getting into Obsession (only played a few times) but it’s really, really good. I get why people are (forgive me) obsessed with it. Beautiful production, crunchy gameplay without being too heavy.

Finally saw the Crazy 88 fight scene in full color in context of the movie (as part of The Whole Bloody Affair) and man, it’s SO MUCH better in color. Truly one of the best fight scenes ever made.

Playing Leder Games Fort, a nice deck builder with amazing artwork. I love the follow mechanism!

Wroth is on the table on this gloomy Friday evening!

Pax Pamir on the game table tonight! So far really enjoying the mix of tableau building and area control.

Glen passing has hit me harder than Leonard Cohen. It’s not just his music, but his presence and energy as a human being. I saw him a few times live but always had in the back of my head seeing him play like this live in Ireland.
Poignant Video. This was recorded 1 hour before Glen (Rip) was killed. He was in the Wrens Nest, Strawberry Beds at a session.

Parks Roll and Hike is a great roll and write! Casual and fun, small box, great production.

I guess this is a hot take but I like Die Hard With a Vengeance as much as the original Die Hard.
