My new show with @CaseyNewton is called Machine Gods, and we’re partnering with NPR! It’s a twice-a-week, video-first podcast about AI, and it will be available next month on YouTube and other podcast apps (and on radio soon!) It’s a really critical time for public engagement with AI, and we’re thrilled to bring our AI coverage (and jokes!) to NPR’s massive audience, while building an independent media company in San Francisco. We’re also thrilled that @RachelCohnnn, our incredible Hard Fork producer, is coming with us to make the new show. More to say soon! npr.org/2026/09/16/g-s1-1434…

For the past few months, @zchace and I have been furiously reporting this with Angela Gervasi. I’m very thankful to all the immigration judges who talked to us for this story. It was eye-opening for me and I hope it is for you too.
Immigration judges explain how different their jobs have become in the past few months because of sweeping policy changes by Trump’s Department of Justice. link.podtrac.com/oe03dm67

This may be the most incredible example of what radio can do - that I've ever heard. And it's also such an important story.

The show is a real-time quest to figure out how to make journalism better. We launch today, with our first two episodes. On episode two I'm joined by @AsteadWH, @zchace, @iraglass, and @jonathaneig. We'll be coming out every other Thursday from here on.

I'm serious about this. For a month and a half, journalists can just fling voting questions out to like two dozen experts and see which one answers first i am not making this up has sourcing ever been easier it has not
HEY Y'ALL @VotebeatUS HAS FREE STUFF FOR REPORTERS COVERING VOTING THIS SEASON. Most excitingly: A Slack channel open to journalists in local and non-profit newsrooms with *literally dozens* of experts who can answer instant questions on the record. accounts.muckrock.com/electi…

This is also why it’s impt to not get your news through partisans. Up until yesterday yall had convinced yourselves that a president avoiding most media interviews was some stroke of strategic genius. The baseline marginal voter was more prepared for Biden’s performance

Nothing explains why, when handed a perfect abortion question on a silk pillow, Biden started talking about a woman raped and killed by an illegal immigrant. That’s not overpreparing. That’s… something else
New: internal finger pointing begins starting w/ Biden’s debate prep team. "He was over-prepared and relying on minutiae when all that mattered was vigor and energy," one person in Biden's orbit told Axios. "They prepared him for the wrong debate” axios.com/2024/06/28/biden-t…

Imagine being a journalist writing this about your fellow journalists who were terminated, saying they deserved to get "weeded out" for "not doing a whole lot of work for a long time"

Ben's irreplaceable. So many are. Every day we need really good reporting, in an environment where so many people are distrusting the news. If that's not what WSJ values, I'm not sure what it is that matters to them.

Ben is a great reporter and the kind of person you want in your newsroom. In 2017, after WSJ editors shrugged off the possibility of violence in Charlottesville, he took it upon himself to go there on his own and in doing so made sure the paper had someone on the ground.

Well, more @wsj layoffs today. Dow Jones stock is up, margins are up, there’s a new windfall AI deal in place and we’re cutting good reporters.

Today on the Daily: a special and, we think, important episode. What would a second Trump presidency really would look like? And what kind of threat would it represent to American democracy? A deep-dive into what we know from three of the best reporters in the country: @jonathanvswan, @maggieNYT and @charlie_savage. It's the beginning of a series that will pursue through Election Day. Take a listen: nytimes.com/2024/04/29/podca…

Ronna McDaniel is reportedly getting a commentary job with NBC. Here’s our reporting from December about her involvement in a call to pressure the Wayne County canvassers not to sign the 2020 election certification:
It's long been a mystery what then-President Donald Trump told the Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers on a phone call in November 2020. Thanks to sources and journalism, it's no longer a mystery. detroitnews.com/story/news/p…

A journalist's job is to look at the evidence and report what they find. I've done both. detroitnews.com/story/news/p…
Replying to @CraigDMauger
Just investigate and report and the news. Would you ever even consider what you may find if you look at the evidence? Do you ever question anything in or the authors of your programmed propaganda playbook? @Saginaw_GOP @MeshawnMaddock @KristinaKaramo
