I was so pleased to be a part of this excellent article by @paula_span about how caring for family members impacts market work and economic wellbeing.

Happy Labor Day to Informal Caregivers whose workdays are long and who rarely get a day off. @jason_r_DC, we're looking forward to unpacking this topic over the course of #AgeBoom2022 w/ you, @aijenpoo @paula_span, @annabastino, @richeis315, @zayetz + so many others. @RRFAging
"Many family caregivers are eligible for hourly wages...but don’t know it exists." Great piece by @clare_ansberry on paid & unpaid caregiving. According to @NA4Caregiving, nearly 70% of caregivers say they want to be paid for their labor. wsj.com/articles/caring-for-… #LaborDay
Extremely well deserved honor for my exceptional colleague @Shooshan5. Congrats and thanks for leading the way!

Terrific piece by @abhabhattarai capturing the central and growing role that caregiving plays in our lives and highlighting the need to both support working family caregivers and strengthen the direct care workforce
Caregiving is the second-largest factor keeping people out of work, behind early retirements, at a time when job openings continue to outnumber potential workers. washingtonpost.com/business/…
Its humbling and exhilerating to read about individual experiences that echo what I see in my research... plus @abhabhattarai let me go on forever and ever about my favorite topic!

Replying to @abhabhattarai
The relationship between caregiving and work tends to be circular: People who are already out of work — as many were early in the pandemic — tend to take on caregiving roles. And once they do, they’re less likely to reenter the workforce, said @zayetz. washingtonpost.com/business/…
