Regardless of your specific skill set, every job requires you to do one basic thing and that is to think. How well you do the job depends on how much and how deeply you think through it.
We have to cultivate the art and practice of thinking. Thinking is an exercise.
It’s death by a thousand paper cuts of it all. ATM naa work. The pothole at the top of maxfield is a crater. Why can’t the traffic light at retirement road get a filter? Why you have to negotiate with police to give you a ticket & put you out of the misery of an attempted bribe?
So many people are on their last straw, last nerve and last dollar. And many of us have moderate cushion to deal with these paper cuts. A car vs a JUTC smart card, a link at tax office, an option. Gradations of separation from the stress of functioning in this country.
This is my primary contention with vision 2030. “The place of choice” is a capitalist endeavor, not a vision for a people’s self-determination.

Apparently nothing has value unless it can be monetized, preferably for visitors - not a historical building, not a storied place and definitely not a natural wonder.
Again, the only hair styles that are policed by schools are Afro-textured hair styles
I think this campaign needs a comms team as strong as its legal one if the call for reparations is to be contemplated seriously in the public imagination.
In every headline it should be clear what is being demanded, WHY there is a strong case for it, and WHOSE shame this is.

If you said that you wanted a live-in personal chef, maid service and nanny many of us would consider each one a luxury service that would have a premium cost.
Put them into one role, call it helper and suddenly it's a minimum wage job. It's what we've normalised.

This calls for a treatise on why & how, under capitalism, the exploitation of poor women's time & labor becomes necessary for other women to achieve class mobility & why the loudest defenders of that exploitation are women while men quietly benefit. But I dont have the time.
I think it’s so off the mark because why dump on a brand new business? don’t they expect the graduates from these very programs to eventually launch out and create new culinary businesses too? will their entrepreneurial efforts also become jokes for promoting future programmes?

Today, Barbados rose as one to say farewell to our Sir Garry.
As his casket passed beneath a salute of raised bats and entered Kensington one final time, the nation gave him its standing ovation. I laid a wreath as Prime Minister, but my heart said goodbye without office, title or protocol. Just Mia, saying farewell to my hero, my mentor and my friend.
The world called you the greatest. We were blessed to call you ours.
Go well, Sir Garry. Well played. Well lived. Well loved.

At the ESRI Summit, I was pleased to connect with Roshaun Clarke, who most Jamaicans would know as Bay-C from the popular group TOK.
While deeply passionate about music, Roshaun is also equally passionate about it developing systems that support progress, development and efficiency. He is the Deputy CEO of Spatial Innovision Ltd, a company specialising in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial technology.
I am proud to see Jamaicans using their skills to push boundaries and help shape a more innovative future for our country.
