Title: END OF SUMMER
Description: The summer, like every summer, has to come to an end! A boy and a girl meet at a nightclub in Rimini. They hit it off, start seeing each other, and fall in love. They spend their days at the beach, their nights out with friends, and share moments of passion. Everything seems to be going well, until something changes. END OF SUMMER is a 60-second musical microfilm about a summer romance, with all the euphoria, sensuality, and impulsiveness of being in your twenties. I chose to set it in Rimini, the city where I was born, where I live, and which I love. Every summer, the city comes alive with young people, music, new encounters, and romances that begin and end within a few weeks. It felt like the right place to tell this story. The project was originally meant to be a proof of concept to test Seedance 2.5 and experiment with new AI filmmaking workflows. But as always, I couldn't resist turning it into a story! So, over the course of two weeks, that little test became a musical microfilm, complete with characters, a story, and an original song created with Suno. Seedance 2.5 surprised me. It certainly has its limitations, but it allowed me to bring almost 90% of the scenes I had imagined to the screen. And for someone who starts with an idea and wants to turn it into a film, that's an incredible opportunity. The film is totally AI generated.

Title:
DEAD SOULS β AI Cinematic Trailer
Description:
A dark cinematic reimagining of Nikolai Gogolβs βDead Souls,β set in provincial Russia in the 1830s. Chichikov arrives with a seemingly absurd proposition: to buy the names of dead serfs who still exist on official records. What begins as a strange business deal gradually exposes greed, vanity, fear and the grotesque nature of the society around him. This AI-made cinematic trailer approaches Gogolβs classic as a visually intense period film β grounded in live-action realism, expressive performances, psychological tension and dark satire. Title: The Lost Mission
Description: Welcome to "The Lost Mission," a chilling descent into one of the Amazon's darkest urban legends. Deep in the uncharted heart of the rainforest, a group of missionaries push upriver to bring the word of Jesus Christ to a tribe no outsider has ever reached. They arrive certain of their purpose β and certain that whatever they find can be saved. But the tribe already has a god. Something lives in the black water beneath their village, something that heals the sick and mends the broken, and it has been answering their prayers for longer than anyone can remember. The missionaries came to offer salvation. The river is about to show them what salvation costs.

Six minutes and 56 seconds was released in 4K on August 19.
As Deep as the Grave posted the first scene long enough to actually judge the performance rather than accept a trailer cut of it. Young Father Fintan in 1904, in conversation with former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez. Long holds. Reaction shots. Two people across a cut, one of them reconstructed from archives.
It is more possible that is here where synthetic performances fall apart, in the pauses and the listening, and the production chose to release exactly that in 4K, which is also where facial reconstruction work shows its seams first. It shows confidence releasing at that resolution. So respect.
Kilmer was cast five years before he died. He died April 1, 2025, from pneumonia, never having reached set. Three years of post production followed. The team studied his work in Heat and Batman Forever, sourced material from family archives, and worked directly with his daughter Mercedes, who is a filmmaker herself.
California's AB 1836 requires written estate consent before anyone creates an AI likeness of a deceased performer. This production built inside that requirement from the start.
The technology answered a scheduling problem created by illness and death.

WAN 3.0 from Alibaba is now in AI FILMS Studio. Two things make it worth knowing about specifically.
The duration floor is 2 seconds. Every other 30 second model in the workspace starts at 4 or 5 seconds. WAN 3.0 goes to 2, and a 2 second test at 480p costs 140 credits. It is the cheapest prompt check available at this duration range.
The seed field is exposed. Most models here don't show it. WAN 3.0 does, in both text to video and image to video. Fix the number, change one word in the prompt, and you know exactly what caused the difference in the output.
Beyond those two, it also has native audio in the same generation pass, an optional last frame in image to video to lock the ending composition, and a planning toggle called Reasoning Mode in text to video and Thinking Mode in image to video. Same control, different label. The article flags it so you don't spend time looking for a setting that isn't missing.
One more thing. The Nodes Graph Editor adds aspect ratio control for image to video, which the workspace form doesn't have. If you need to reframe a still before animating it, that's where it lives.
Ah, the model also carries the NSFW badge in the picker, which means relaxed content filtering compared to several other models in the list.

China seems has already answered the question the rest of the film industry keeps debating.
In January 38% of China's top 100 streaming shows featured AI digital human actors. Keep in mind that a year ago that share was just a 7%. Those shows pulled 2.55 billion views in a single month.
In Q1 2026, China released over 128,000 new microdramas and more than 95% were AI productions. In March alone, 50,000 AI native titles appeared on Douyin and the current output runs at roughly 470 AI dramas per day.
A traditional episode costs around $100,000 to produce and now an AI equivalent costs about $2,800. So on average a digital human face license runs as cheap as $15 per episode.
Actor Zhang Xiaolei appeared in roughly 200 microdramas over two years of working in the format. In 2026, he received one booking. He now farms.
The data of 2.55 billion views says audiences are not really opposed to AI actors. What seems the most relevant is the story and entertainment value.

Seedance 2.5 is live in AI FILMS Studio. It is the first model in the workspace to reach 4K and 30 seconds in a single generation.
The previous version, Seedance 2.0, topped out at 1080p and 15 seconds. This one doubles the duration, adds a 4K tier, and raises the reference asset limit from 12 to 50. Those 50 slots split into three input sections. From up to 30 reference images, 10 reference videos, and 10 reference audio files, all feeding in one generation request.
Native audio generates in the same pass as the video. Describe the sound in the prompt and it arrives timed to the action.
The adaptive aspect ratio option in text to video is worth knowing about. Instead of picking a tile, let the model decide what frame shape suits the shot you described.
Also worth knowing is that it generates a 30 second clip at 4K costs 54,000 credits. A 5 second test at 480p costs 900. Test low, confirm the prompt works, then raise resolution and duration for the final pass.
Full tutorial live now.

Three new video models just landed in AI FILMS Studio. They all do different things, so here's the short version.
FLUX 3 from Black Forest Labs generates audio in the same pass as the video. No extra charge, no separate step. It also works across three generation modes that are text to video, image to video, and start-end frame. Seven aspect ratios, including 2:1, which not many models offer. Clips run up to 20 seconds.
MiniMax H3 outputs at 2K. That's it, so no need of draft tier, no resolution choice, just 2K at every length from 5 to 15 seconds. In image to video mode you can lock the ending by supplying a last frame too, and the model fills in the motion between your two compositions.
Grok Imagine Video 1.5 from xAI goes the other direction. A 1 second test at 480p costs 80 credits what is one of the cheapest iteration loop you might find, and it is useful when you're still figuring out whether a prompt works before spending on a longer clip.
So three models, three tutorials, all live now.

$11 million in three weeks. This has been the number Darren Aronofsky's AI studio just posted.
Primordial Soup Labs filed an SEC disclosure targeting $15 million total. Investors closed 73 percent of it almost immediately, crazy because this is a studio with fewer than 20 employees and zero theatrical credits.
One interesting thing too is that in January, the studio's first big production got torn apart publicly. It was considered a stiff animation, inconsistent lighting,.. Real criticism.
But by May, at Cannes, Aronofsky showed a new episode from the same series and called the jump in quality "mind blowing." Better models. A sharper pipeline with a team that leveled up fast.
Now there's a Head of Studio role open, covering features, TV series, and branded commercials, this shows the studio is not doing short experiments anymore.
One more detail worth knowing. Every voice actor in the series is SAG-AFTRA union talent. So AI builds the animation but humans still perform every line.

Two of the biggest film awards on earth just landed on opposite sides of the same question.
BAFTA opened its 2027 entries this week with new AI language. The standard now protects human achievement "regardless of the tools used." So there is no ban and no affidavit but with just the right to ask more questions if something looks worth asking about.
Remember that the Oscars went the other way back in May. AI generated performances are banned from acting categories entirely. Producers now sign a legal affidavit certifying human authorship. Even a whole compliance committee exists to check that.
One thing both agree on is that a fully AI generated performer, like the one that starred in the film "Misaligned," isn't walking into either ceremony. That door is closed everywhere. For now?
Everything else is now a matter of which statue you're chasing, and that's a real problem for any film aiming at both.

Nolan's Odyssey opened to $264 million globally, the biggest opening of the year, years in the making across nine countries.
That same day, Elon Musk posted that Grok Imagine will deliver its own full length Odyssey film by December 31.
It will be, as he says, historically accurate and true to Homer. The proof, a three minute clip of Odysseus and Calypso on Ogygia.
There will be no director, no writer and no cast attached to the Grok version. Just the poem, the prompt, and the generation pipeline doing all the interpretive work a filmmaker usually does.
Five months to deliver what traditionally takes years. That's the bet.

New model in the Workspace and on the Nodes Graph Editor. Seedream 5.0 Pro, from ByteDance is now also live in AI FILMS Studio.
Like most of the image models, it has two ways to use it. Text to Image builds a new image from a prompt alone and image to Image takes what you already have and reshapes it. You can upload up to 10 reference photos in one request. Describe the change. The model applies it while keeping your original structure intact.
Works well with typography and as a chinese model it is bilingual. Chinese and English, so the text renders cleanly inside the image itself.
Simple pricing. 1k tier for fast drafts, 45 credits. 2k tier for final output, 90 credits. Each extra reference image in Image to Image mode adds just 3 credits.

George Lucas just compared AI resistance to defending the horse and buggy.
He said it at the opening of his own museum, a building full of narrative art meant to prove one thing, and it is that storytelling always absorbs new tools. "Artificial intelligence means it's much easier for us to make movies," he told reporters.
He built ILM in 1975 because the tools he needed didn't exist. He put the first Star Wars in Dolby Stereo before theaters had any reason to care. He shot an entire feature on digital cameras in 2002, years before that was normal.
Every single one of those moves got the same pushback AI is getting now. Every single one became standard practice within a decade.
Keep in mind that ILM is owned by Disney now, and it's one of the most aggressive AI adopters in Hollywood post production today. The company Lucas built is proving his own point.

Same story, same week but $250 million apart.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey opens in IMAX on July 17, budget around $250 million, Universal Pictures behind it. But the same week, Ash Koosha's dropped Odysseus: The Fall. Rental price for $9.99 and the budget, mid five figures.
Koosha wrote it, directed it, and stars in it. Twelve people appear on screen, all consenting participants. Not one frame came from a camera. Every image in the film was generated.
Three months start to finish. That's while he was also closing out Fountain 0's first feature, which already premiered at Tribeca.
Do the math on the budgets and you land around 5,000 to 1. Same source material but of course, a completely different infrastructure.

New model, two ways to use it. Luma Ray 3.2 in AI FILMS Studio.
Text to video turns a written prompt into a clip from scratch. Image to video takes a still you already made and moves it forward, with an optional end frame that tells the model exactly where the shot should land.
A great trick is to feed it two images instead of one motion prompt. Starting frame, ending frame, like many models Luma Ray 3.2 fills in everything between but the transitions are very clean.
It comes with three resolutions, five aspect ratios, five second or ten second clips. Price scales with resolution and duration only, so a quick draft costs far less than your final export.
