And what did her coach say in this emotional, inspiring moment?
“She’s an absolute mongrel.. I wouldn’t any to take her on.”
A mongrel is a term that usually denotes a dog of unknown, mixed breeds or one that is aggressive and angry.
Aussies know it as a term of endearment.
It means Nina never gives up, is ‘tough as nails’ as we say, faces challenges head on and relishes the greatest pressure.
