The wild thing here is that remote work/ 2020 was supposed to turbocharge wage arbitrage and flatten things I guess it was the magic money printers
This is an absolutely major theme in the coming years. A massive wage arbitrage has opened between the US and its competitors. The overwhelming majority of people in the US have no idea just how much more money they make than the Japanese, French, British, etc.

Because of this I could buy my first MacBook in 2013. Meaning, it has been the case for a looong time.
Most MacBooks serve as glorified Chromebooks these days. Apple still has a clear advantage on hardware, but their grip on the software side has never been softer. For normies, almost everything happens on the web when they're in front of a computer.

"many of us have willingly paid the "Apple tax", the premium price for Apple products justified by superior user experience, design, and ecosystem integration. But if software quality continues to decline, this value proposition becomes increasingly difficult to defend."
My latest blog post went somewhat viral, with around 10k page visits as of now. I've seen in comments posted on Hacker News, Lobsters and Reddit that many users are experiencing lots of problems. If you haven't read the post yet, here's the link: eliseomartelli.it/blog/2025-…
