Willem Dafoe’s striking black leather coat wasn’t an ordinary wardrobe piece. It was custom-made by Prada specifically for the film, carefully designed to complement his character’s intimidating presence and create a look that stood apart from the typical movie villain. Its sleek design, sharp lines, and heavy texture gave the character an unmistakable sense of authority and menace.
The film’s wardrobe was overseen by legendary costume designer Milena Canonero, whose exceptional work earned her an Academy Award. Her achievement went far beyond a single memorable outfit, demonstrating how costume design can shape a film’s atmosphere, reinforce a character’s personality, and communicate power without a single word of dialogue.

The Rolling Stones by the water at Franklin Canyon in Los Angeles, December 1965, photographed by Guy Webster. On a tour stop in LA, Guy talked the band into a chilly hike to the reservoir, with Brian Jones in red trousers on the right. The photos were meant for an album to be called Could You Walk on the Water?, but the title was judged too controversial, and the album became Aftermath. Instead the shoot went on the American cover of Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass), released in March 1966, which went to No. 3 on Billboard.
