@dieworkwear Derek I am sorry for the plea, but I got my first high waisted pants today thanks in no small part to your writing. BUT I've furiously looked and couldn't see any suggestions on length/break… am I right thinking the rules are less set here? xitter.cf/dieworkwear/status/166…
YOU SHOULD CONSIDER HIGH-RISE TROUSERS I think I've been writing mainly for menswear-obsessed guys for so long that it had not occurred to me that high-rise trousers could still be controversial in 2023. So let's run through some points. 🧵

@dieworkwear e.g. this example and in the OG thread barely seem to break… I’ve gone 2” shorter than my usual length and they kind of look the same (tho before adding the shoes I ordered, plus promise I will budget/time for a tailor in future) so curious xitter.cf/dieworkwear/status/176…

It took one man to change all this: Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor, who was a bit of a twit but undeniably stylish. He's the single most important influence on Western men's dress since Beau Brummell. Whatever he wore, others followed.

I made the mistake of stopping on one mildly interesting tiktok about excel and now the algorithm has cursed me with every other video being some “excel wizards!” shit. 🤢

The regret rate of gender-affirming surgery is 0.3%. The regret rate for knee replacement surgery is 6-30%. "Transition regret" is a false narrative being pushed by the media to prevent people from getting access to life-saving, gender-affirming healthcare. However... Let's address that 0.3%. Many outside factors contribute to a trans person's regret: 👉Unsupportive families. 👉Transphobic environments. 👉Normal post-op distress. Just because that 0.3% of people regret their surgery doesn't mean they're not transgender. The fear of regret shouldn't stop thousands of trans people from getting access to the healthcare they deserve. Regret rates exist - but not for the reasons the media are trying to push.
