1/7 We know AI can do a lot. BUT can it identify HFpEF on a routine echocardiogram when elevated filling pressures only become apparent during exercise? Our new paper in Structural Heart explores this question. 🧵 Read the paper: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

From prediction to action in cardiovascular care 🧠❤️ Artificial intelligence has transformed risk prediction - but is it enough? A new perspective published in our journal explores how neuro-symbolic, agentic AI can move beyond prediction translating knowledge into action.

May the light of wisdom guide your mind, and the warmth of compassion guide your work. May the questions you carry open new paths of discovery, and may the knowledge you share kindle learning in others. May your hands bring healing, your teaching awaken courage, and your ideas grow into innovations that serve the good of many. May those who learn from you carry the flame onward, lighting new lamps in places yet unseen. And may your days be blessed with purpose, your work with meaning, and your journey with the quiet joy of knowing that lives are stronger because you walked this way. ☘️ Happy St. Paddy's Day

"Don Brown, a former counsellor at the 'Ted Williams Baseball Camp', recalls that one kid who wasn’t awestruck by Ted Williams was Joe Coleman, a local high school pitching phenom who would go on to pitch in the major leagues. Joe Coleman was also the son of the Philadelphia Athletics pitcher of the same name who had been Ted’s roommate in 1942 at Amherst College, Williams’s first stop during World War II. "Joe Coleman was pitching and striking everyone in camp out. Ted Williams came over to the field in his street clothes to watch and Joe Coleman was actually taunting him: ‘You couldn’t hit me, old man!’ Ted never said a word. Williams just grabbed a bat, went up to the plate and hit the next four pitches out, into the oak trees four hundred feet away, then put the bat down and walked out. Never said a word. Ted Williams was about five years out of the game. In street clothes." "The Kid: The Immortal Life of Ted Williams". Ben Bradlee Jr. The Ted Williams Camp opened in 1958 and closed in 1986, having instructed thousands of boys from age 7 through their teens, with frequent appearances by the 'Splendid Splinter'.

In one of the most energetic and packed sessions of the Health Innovation Pavilion, moderator @PierreEliasMD led an electrifying live challenge that put clinicians head-to-head with one of the latest general-purpose large language models (LLMs). Joining him on the panel were @DrA_FACC, @AJBloodMD and @timpotsMD, powerhouse of clinical expertise across cardiology and imaging. The session unfolded as a rapid-fire competition answering ECG interpretations, echocardiography assessments and complex clinical vignettes. The takeaway was clear: AI is a powerful tool that can support clinician reasoning, synthesize large amounts of data, and improve administrative, operational, and clinical efficiency. But equally important: AI cannot replace clinical judgment. Not the moral reasoning, contextual awareness, accountability or compassionate decision-making at the heart of patient care. @American_Heart @SethShayMartin @HeartBobH @iamritu @ericpetersonMD @PatrickWayte @asifali youtu.be/ESR6-PcRuGs?si=j85w… via @YouTube
