(No fancy write-up this time, as the mini format is over thanks to the October 19 Emergency Banlist.)
Trevor Lee Parker wins YCS Houston with Azamina Dark Magician Light and Darkness Ritual! He dueled Blake Funderburke, who was on Ars Magna Elfnote. There were around 1190 or so duelists, 14 rounds of Swiss, and a Top 8 cut.
All 42 changes have been revealed, and the new Forbidden and Limited list is effective on Monday! What do you think of it? I'll likely make a separate post that goes all over the changes.
Special shoutout to Julien Kehon for being ahead of the curve and using a Yang Zing package in his Ars Magna Elfnote strategy to help play around hand traps (Denglong + Chaofeng). Assault Blackwing - Kusanagi has been the downright MVP for Angelechy decks the entire weekend, effortlessly mowing down opponents for easy OTKs.
Advanced Top 8 Breakdown
3 Angelechy 3 Elfnote (Ars Magna) 2 Light and Darkness Ritual (DM Mitsurugi Azamina Pile)
Genesys YCS Houston had 273 duelists, 12 rounds of Swiss, and a Top 8 cut. Against all odds and the points list changes, Enzo Fiallos wins the event with Blitzclique, defeating Juan Sebastian Andrade Castro in the finals, who piloted Angelechy. The deck naturally possesses a good matchup into the TCG exclusive newcomer thanks to its obscene amounts of built-in removal, more than capable of chewing through Bastion and playing under Destrier and Shatranga just fine.
Genesys Top 8 Breakdown
3 Angelechy (1 Ancient Fairy)
3 Blitzclique (1 Angelechy)
2 Fairy Tail (Magistus)
