Released a production-ready EventQL parser in Rust 🦀 EventQL is a SQL-inspired query language designed specifically for event sourcing. Smart design that makes indexing obvious. Blog: yoeight.github.io/blog/2025/…

My biggest pet peeve living in Quebec is too many places call themselves “Boulangerie” (bakery) but don’t sell bread. It’s just pastries and sandwiches most of the time.

I've resurrected the comonad.com/reader, interleaved a ton of contemporaneous content I had stored elsewhere, and made a couple of the articles interactive by moving their demo code into web assembly using modern GHC. Please let me know if you run into any issues. #Haskell

I’ve been using Linux for 20 years and this is the first legit kernel panic I ever experienced. I’m using Fedora 44 with the 7.1.10 kernel version.

I think LSM Trees have won largely because there’s no good btree library. LMDB is great but single writer. AWS showed BDB struggles. Cloudflare ran with TokyoCabinet and it’s not terrible but not great. There’s nothing of the level of polish and reliability as RocksDB.

Received a Nvidia DGX Spark at work, and all I feel is regret for not grabbing one when they were only $2,000 a piece.

What’s disappointing is that AI programming hasn’t improved abstraction or code reasoning. We’ve forfeited both and now focus on output. I want programming to feel like Satisfactory/Factorio: small blocks combining into something greater, without needing to know how each works.

As I keep saying, the French are the only nation who have the right to be properly Anglophobic, and vice versa. We have come through so much together.

I’m excited about frontier LLMs, but reliability is still a major problem. GPT-5.6 Sol xhigh failed a trivial task by ignoring a clear instruction in my Rust skill: use snapshot tests, never asserts. I caught it because I reviewed the code. So much for "don’t look at the code"

I am excited to announce that we are officially writing a new version of Postgres. In Rust - and creating the LLVM of databases in the process. In the span of a year, we have rewritten SQLite. Keeping the compatibility, increasing its feature set. MVCC, Types, (Live) Materialized Views, among other things. In the process of doing that, we have realized: At the end of the day, what makes SQLite special is that it compiles SQL to a database-specific bytecode. So why can't we compile *Postgres* to the same bytecode? Turns out we can. I ran an experiment called pgmicro as a way to prove this hypothesis, and it works very well. It is time to make this official, and put the weight of Turso behind it. We shall give the world a modern take on Postgres. Wire compatible, but built on a new architecture. We have already heard of others wanting to extend this. MySQL? Redis? the sky is the limit. What can we do if we do for databases what LLVM did for compilers? To prove how powerful the SQLite bytecode is, we are actually running DOOM compiled to the unmodified SQLite instruction set. And because Turso runs natively in the browser, you can play the game in your browser. With the database executing it. Read the full story below! 👇

With all due respect, this is a very bad take. That’s fine when working on personal projects but very unprofessional otherwise.
the problem with "spec driven development" is that most software can't be spec'd up front software is a creative act, where you figure out what you're building as you build it you need to get your hands dirty in the details, and react to incremental versions it's telling that all the examples of spec driven development are sorting a list or porting thoroughly tested code (like a js runtime or browser engine), which are the exception, not the rule. the vast majority of software doesn't have a spec – or if it does, the spec was created *after*
