Alex Murdaugh's defense team is pushing a judge to force prosecutors to hand over evidence that a small-town police chief allegedly handled the murder weapons used to kill Maggie and Paul Murdaugh — and even provided Murdaugh a change of clothes at the crime scene.
The claims, filed in a late September motion ahead of Murdaugh's April 2027 retrial, cite witness testimony that Yemassee Police Chief Greg Alexander was seen with the weapons in the immediate aftermath of the June 7, 2021, killings.
A second Yemassee officer is allegedly under investigation for transporting and concealing weapons and clothing. The allegations have not been corroborated.
A former prosecutor called the defense strategy a "wild goose chase" and "borderline delay tactics," while prosecutors accused Murdaugh's team of spreading "brazen falsehoods."
Alexander, through his attorney, denied the accusations and told Fox News Digital: "That truth will outlive any ridiculous rumors and gossip."

Please take the time to open an investigation into the death of Officer #johnokeefe, specifically, the conspiracy culitvated and spread by #karenread, her attorneys, @AlanJayJackson & @BostonDefender, and blogger @DoctorTurtleboy .
The evidence against these individuals to commit witness intimidation and defraud the government is abundant.
Text communications between all these individuals show methodical, blatant, and deliberate tactics, to try and frame innocent people for the crime Karen Read herself is responsible for.
The lives of the witnesses involved in the trial against Read, have been nearly destroyed by Read, and the family of John O’Keefe, have not only NOT received justice for the death of John, they themselves has been targets of harassment and threats by Read, her attorneys and the blogger.
Failure to look into this and not investigate, is allowing these people who have committed crimes, to walk away with zero accountability for their horrific and CRIMINAL
behavior.
I speak for so many, including the family of John O’Keefe and the innocent witnesses who have all become victims of Karen Read, when I plead with you to investigate these people.

Alex Murdaugh defense attorney Dick Harpootlian addresses judge's last-minute criticism outside the courthouse.
"She's 100% right," he conceded, after she corrected the record following an inaccurate statement he'd made back in August.
"The state has made a motion to correct the record concerning Mr. Hartpootlian's statements concerning the defendant passing a polygraph 'with flying colors,'" Judge Debra McCaslin said. "This statement was made at the Aug. 14 pretrial conference. It is the court's understanding that Mr. Murdaugh was polygraphed as to whether he had hidden other assets. He failed this test."
He did not take a polygraph related to the murders, she said.
"Therefore, the record will reflect that the defendant failed his polygraph as to financial matters, and he has never been polygraph concerning the murders of Maggie and Paul," the judge added.

Y’all have both been practicing law long enough to know how to be professional. (She corrects the record in which the Defense claimed that Alex Murdaugh has passed a polygraph with flying colors and notes that he failed his polygraph as to financial matters and has never been polygraphed as to the murders. She also notes that she received a letter of apology from Mr Harpootlian about “any confusion”). I am feeling so good about how our state legislature chose Judge McCaslin above several other candidates to serve on the bench. She has the exact temperament needed for a trial such as this.

AIDAN KEARNEY: MORE BLATANT LIES, EXPECT SANCTIONS
Last night, in yet another instance of utter stupidity, Aidan Kearney went live and discussed the second day of his deposition in the O'Keefe wrongful death case.
According to Kearney, who was represented at the deposition by his criminal attorney Timothy Bradl , the questioning focused heavily on his phone extraction which was obtained in 2023 from a warrant in his criminal case. Kearney claimed that the O'Keefe's attorney, Marc Diller. was using a "stolen" extraction released by a former girlfriend as a basis for his questions and that he refused to stipulate to it as he could not confirm its authenticity.
Except that's not true.
On July 20th, at a hearing for a motion to dismiss in Kearney's criminal case, Diller appeared before Judge Belezos requesting that the phone extraction obtained in the criminal case be released to him so that he could compare the extraction to what Kearney produced in response to his subpoena in the wrongful death case.
According to Kearney's attorney at that same hearing, after conferring with Kearney and his other attorney Mark Bederow, Kearney had indeed produced the extraction. His attorney also inadvertently authenticated the messages seen "on the Internet" as the messages from the extraction. (Eeek Whiskey Tim, bad move)
On August 5th, Judge Belezos issued an order to release the extraction which is clearly what Diller was using at the deposition.
Further, upon review of what Kearney said he had produced to Diller in episode 893, minute mark 42, it is apparent that Kearney did NOT provide his extraction even though Bradl falsely represented to the court he had. Diller and his team likely spent extensive hours reviewing the pile of garbage Kearney had sent in response against the extraction and cataloging the discrepancies. I would expect to see Diller file a motion to recover the fees the O'Keefes paid for this work.
And one final note, the extraction was under protective order. Whether Kearney violated that by showing the extraction to his audience is for someone else to answer.
