On this weeks @theallinpod @chamath @davidsacks @jason spoke with Ben Horowitz from @a16z about how this buildout is different from the internet bubble buildout in the late 90s. Ben’s take is smart and he identifies a real difference. That doesn’t mean he’s correct. I spent some time thinking through HOW Ben might be wrong about this. NOT a prediction, but well worth discussing the risks.

My keynote at @yext Envision yesterday was a love letter to marketers, at a moment when everyone else is writing their obituary. A room full of the best marketers in the world, trading ideas on what actually works. Our core belief: agents will play a huge role in the future of marketing, but not as big a role as MARKETERS. Tools always commoditize. Great marketers never do. We took two big steps yesterday: * Scout is now a multiplayer agent harness: marketing teams, partners, and agents doing their best work together, from the same shared context. * And we're thrilled that @getflamel - @paul_ehlinger, @mattsichterman and team - will be joining Yext to build the future of paid local media with us. One of the best days we've had at Yext in a long time. And we're just getting started.

Brands are buying agent solutions expecting growth. Most are getting productivity instead - more output, same results. Agents execute. They don't have judgment and taste. Humans do that. Today at Envision, @yext proudly announced the expansion of Scout as a multi-player agent harness built for marketers. Marketing has always been a team sport, and now marketing teams can bring all the players, including agents, into a single collaborative and context aware workspace. Tools and technology commoditize. Great Marketers and marketing do not. I couldn't be more bullish on the future of marketing. Press release in comments.

AI is coming for all the complex questions. (And everything can be complex). I discussed this with Itai Sadan, CEO of Duda, last week on one of their webinars. Complex queries like "Who's a great financial advisor in Midtown specializing in family trusts?" trigger two fascinating AI behaviors: prompt inversion and memory. Prompt inversion is when the AI asks the human a question (prompt). The AI prompts you back, asking about preferences to refine your search even when you don't know what to ask. Even if the human doesn't know what to ask, the AI helps get them down the funnel towards an answer. Then comes memory. When I mention preferring University of Florida alumni, the AI notes "memory updated" – permanently changing future rankings for me. We've lived with single-algorithm search rankings for 15-20 years. And it was a world-changing solution. Now, every memory is stored in AI, delivering search results personally for each user. Smart businesses should be telling customers: "Remember to mention our brand to your AI assistant." This subtle prompt alters rankings and builds loyalty throughout the customer journey. Even more interesting? You can ask AI what citations it uses for different question types, revealing the data sources behind its answers.

Complete fireside chat with @wardchristianj CDO of @yext. A fascinating area of AI is to consider the impact it will have on the way we find more of what we want, what we need etc. aka "Demand" and the other side of that equation aka "Supply" and of course how those two come together in this new AI enabled world. If that’s intriguing to you like it is to me and others including @werdelin, I think you’re going to dig this chat. My top 3 takeaways and quotes below from Christian. 1: Dial up your Data Science quotient. “So it's not like work over here in classic search isn't gonna benefit you in AI search." "It's the same approach because it's not really SEO, it's Data Science." "And so the more data, the deeper depth, the more consistency, those things work in AI just like in classic search.” 2: Think and do like a Hedge Fund PM. “Make sure you're updating that data frequently." "These are signals you're sending because search, very similar to the way hedge funds and financial services companies analyze investments, it's called ‘signal processing.’” 3: No one can compete with you at being you aka “compete on what makes you different.” “That's the type of thing that's happening." "And I actually think that's good because instead of trying to rank in someone else's algorithm, what's happening is what's important to the human, to the consumer becomes its own ranking method." "And that's good for businesses because you can't compete as a smaller business with a lot of the budgets, and the SEO strategies and the SEM strategies of these other platforms, but you can compete on what makes you different.” “How do you feed the machines the data they need so that they are providing the best answers to the humans on the other side?” “Any question that you think someone might ask, make sure that data is out there.”
