i’m afraid of KYC and you should be too. KYC is a risk to your personal safety. collecting personal information in the age of cyber security breaches everywhere is extremely irresponsible. and it’s not going to get any better any time soon. our laws shouldn’t require institutions to KYC, they should prevent them from doing so. institutions that leak KYC information or fail to defend it from hackers should be punished by the law for risking their user’s safety.

During 300,000 years of homo sapiens' history, I just happened to experience those 50 years (~0.02%) that saw the development of the personal computer, the internet and artificial intelligence. Truly, what a beautiful time to be alive.
We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics. The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra. The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.

‼️ Pocket Bitcoin (Swiss exchange) leaked identity documents, source of funds records, postal addresses, IBAN numbers, and bitcoin address of customers. KYC is the biggest threat to your safety.
⚠️ Update on the security incident at Pocket Bitcoin Our investigation is complete. It showed that in some cases more data was affected than described in our first post. We have identified two affected groups.

gained a ton of new insights working in bitcoin red team 🟥 that i wish i could share without vague posting. but this is what i got anon. - we’re experiencing a massive collision between decades of human open source slop against 2 weeks of kimi k3 (not good) - everything is broken, bitcoin is burning - bitcoin is becoming stronger through this - bitcoin is the obvious first target but the rest of the world will follow shortly - sometimes old things need to burn so new things can grow on healthy soil - humans should never code in c (just stop) - lightning is complicated and is more broken than the average (sorry) - verification is free. we used to complain about slop PRs. then about slop security audits. if you can’t handle the information overload, stop complaining and use AI to sort through it. - those projects that started AI audits months ago are in a completely different position than those who didn’t - projects need their own AI audit pipeline going into the future - the burden for a developer to keep software safe and secure is pretty stressful and not for everyone. it has become a lot more stressful now. - unmaintained projects are most probably broken, don’t rely on them. i’d rather one-shot it myself with a modern AI - multiple concurrent, diverse human approaches have proven to be the best vulnerability search method - external red teaming will probably have to continue forever - we’ve basically completed a basic scan of virtually the entirety of bitcoin open source. the low hanging fruit is done. - we’ve reported a ton of real critical and high vulnerabilities. project maintainers across the board have validated our findings. - response speed is very different across projects and shows how healthy each project is. i recommend acting fast these days. - red team etiquette matters. if you don’t disclose responsibly, boast on twitter about your findings on a particular project, or make indications about the nature of particular findings, you’ve disqualified yourself as a serious security researcher. trust is the most important factor in this game. if you lose it, it’s very hard to win it back. - did i mention that humans should not code in c? love you all.

JUST IN: new peer-reviewed research finds Bitcoin mining has the capacity to absorb 83% of the wind Ireland is forced to throw away, lifting wind farm revenues by 32%. The paper is a wake-up call for grid operators, regulators and political leaders around the world whose grids are wasting large quantities of renewable energy, because the paper includes a head-to-head comparison with battery, finding 2 significant advantages, both which matter to the taxpayer. 1. No subsidy required: "Compared with battery storage, hydrogen electrolysis, or transmission reinforcement, the co-investment is privately financed and operationally market-driven" and "...without requiring physical network upgrades or regulatory subsidy." 2. No performance degradation "Unlike battery storage, mining incurs no round-trip efficiency losses or cycle degradation; unlike hydrogen electrolysis, it requires no downstream offtake infrastructure." In layman's terms, this means that a battery gives back less power than it takes, and wears out with every cycle - whereas hydrogen needs a pipeline and a buyer at the far end. Bitcoin mining simply pays to use otherwise wasted power on the spot and needs nothing more after that. Plus, Batteries, hydrogen and new wires are all paid for by the public. Bitcoin mining, uniquely, isn't. To summarize: Together with previous papers on renewable energy monetization using Bitcoin mining, this technology is looking increasingly like the only tax-neutral way to keep renewable energy transition targets on track (or get them back on track). The finding puts even more pressure on Ireland's neighbour, the UK, which continues to waste significant amounts of wind energy, to properly evaluate Bitcoin mining. source: wastedwind.energy/ This paper is doubly-significant because prior studies were done on deregulated grids like ERCOT (Texas). This study shows that Bitcoin mining's benefits extend to islanded regulated grids with high renewable penetration. The study comes at a time where Ireland is currently wasting11.4% of its available wind (source: cms.eirgrid.ie/sites/default…). Its Climate Action Plan targets <7% curtailment by 2030. But an independent estimate says it's currently going in the opposite direction, projected to increase to16% by 2030, even with storage and demand response built (source: seai.ie/sites/default/files/…). The paper is published in Energy Economics which has an impact factor of 13.5 (top 2% of academic journals) Source: doi.org/10.1016/j.eneco.2026…

About three years ago, I started writing a book... I knew the content/argument of the book that I wanted to get across, but I had trouble. Around the start of this year, I finally realised the problem was that I shouldn't be writing one book, I should be writing two. So I did.

There is a critical vulnerability being actively exploited on BTCPay Server, which can result in the loss of funds. Please update your BTCPayServer to 2.4.2 by going to Admin Dashboard -> Server -> Maintenance -> Update & verify the 2.4.2 version string in the footer. If you are unable to update right away, turn off your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can update.

⚠️ ONGOING ATTACK ON COLDCARD - ACT NOW ⚠️ If you're a COLDCARD Mk3 user (your coldcard has no USB-C yet) you must MOVE FUNDS off the device RIGHT NOW. Seed phrases generated on the COLDCARD Mk3 are insecure. Move all funds to a secure hardware wallet. Call your trusted Bitcoiner if you need help. This is not a drill. I know people affected by this. Share widely.
COLDCARD Mk3 Security Advisory If you generated a seed on a Mk3 after firmware 4.0.1, your funds may be at risk. Mk4, Q and Mk5 are not affected based on our early analysis. Read the advisory and migrate carefully: blog.coinkite.com/coldcard-m…

I know what it’s like to go from being invited to events in El Salvador to being invited not to return to the country, simply for minor privacy criticisms. All the ‘bitcoiners’ who remain silent are complicit in the rise of a dictatorship. Great job my friend @JoeNakamoto 👏
