Alt Szn will be for memes, not utility/tech alts.
Most Tech/Utility alts are either fairly valued or overvalued. Trust me, I've spent the last 2 years analyzing (midcurving) this more than 99% of people in the industry.

“Reading after a certain age diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking, just as the man who spends too much time in the theater is tempted to be content with living vicariously instead of living his own life.” — Albert Einstein

This is the wild story of how I made $1,036,175 during the COVID lockdowns by rapidly creating a new physical product in 7 days.
In April 2020, during the lockdowns I created 2 things that changed my life:
1. – I launched Shepherd (eventually renamed Somewhere[dot]com). 4 years later we sold it for $52,000,000.
2. – I created a new physical product that made us $1,036,175 in 60 days.
This is the untold story of #2.

Yusuf Dikeç has become a global star thanks to this image.
But why do we love it so much? Why does this picture -- this vibe -- resonate so widely?
It's because Dikeç personifies the idea of sprezzatura.
Sprezzatura is an old Italian word, commonly used in the world of fashion. You can interpret it a few ways -- here are how some Italian fashion models define it:
"the simple and casual attitude to show others your elegance and style"
"the art of doing things with ease, without too much effort."
"the ability to add a mistake to your look whilst still looking effortlessly good."
In my mind, sprezzatura is effortless grace. It's nonchalance. It's peak performance despite not being perfect.
It's Gianni Agnelli wearing a wristwatch over his shirt cuffs.
It's Usain Bolt prepping for the 100m final in Beijing by eating nothing but Chicken McNuggets -- then breaking a world record.
And it's a 51 year old Turkish dude rocking up to the Olympics like it's the third thing on his to-do list that day.
No special gear. No lenses. No ear defenders. One hand in the pocket. His regular glasses the only eye protection.
It's a rejection of the hyper-optimised, biohacking, perfect-morning-routine, Tim Ferriss / Andrew Huberman way of thinking.
Just natural, effortless, performance.
And we love it.

Meme Evolution Theory: Part 2
In part 1, I discussed my thesis on why v2 style memes will outpace v1 style.
v1 memes = Doge, Shib, Bonk
v2 memes = Mog, Wif, Retardio
But in part 2, I want to discuss 3 new v2 style memes that have emerged.
1. Stationary
2. Video
3. Background
But before I discussed those, it's important to understand why v2 memes will continue to win this cycle.
WHY v2 MEMES WIN
I have always believed that memes are as good as the community that supports it.
With v2 style memes, it allows for the entire community to build, instead of a just a few.
This simple adjustment allows for infinite meme creation and gives the individuals in the community more ownership of the project and thus more belief of number go up.
STATIONARY MEMES
Since this thread, more v2 memes have been created, but this time with a unique twist.
$MICHI didn't use a hat or vipers, instead they flipped it and took a page out of NFTs.
They used a stationary meme that allowed for the cat to be dressed up to create infinite styles.
But what we've seen, is that the Michi style is easily repeatable, but an important angle that Michi misses imo is instant recognition, whereas...
You see a beanie, you think Wif
You see Pit Vipers, you think Mog
You see clown face makeup, you think Retardio.
VIDEO MEMES
Video memes are starting to become more popular:
$VCAT
$DJCAT
$SPEED
$PEDRO
However, video memes are not quite in the same ballpark yet.
For starters, video memes cannot be turned into PFP's, which puts them at a disadvantage.
In addition, when doing video memes, there takes more skill to create them, which in turn limits the amount of people in the community to create.
However, the video memes have been really good, and I expect them to continue to do well while the tech improves to empower more individuals to build.
BACKGROUND MEMES
While Michi brought infinite styles to the stationary picture, $SELFIE is bringing infinite backgrounds and a prop (phone cover) like Mog and Wif.
The Selfie dog has 3 ways to make it unique in every meme.
1. The background
2. The phone case
3. What the dog is wearing
In addition, #SELFIE has also hit on another angle we've seen, where the ticker itself is commonly used in our vernacular like mog and retardio which allows for greater distribution of the meme.
CONCLUSION
This cycle, the memes will continue to evolve, but I believe you can be highly successful by simply buying v2 memes and avoiding v1 style memes that lack scalability.
Disclaimer: I own every v2 ticker mentioned in this post.
Meme Evolution Theory
The way memes were created last bull run will not be as effective this time around.
And I believe the evolution from static to dynamic memes will outpace the old guard.
Here's how I see it...
In 2021, we had static memes.
In 2024, we have dynamic memes.
The static memes can be considered V1.
These are memes like Doge, Pepe, and Bonk.
The creators simply add a mascot head to a relevant meme to help spread their message.
V1 memes are still being used, but I argue that they are losing their power as it's just recycled content.
The dynamic memes can be considered V2.
These are memes like Mog, Wif, and Retardio.
These memes allow the creators to use a feature that can transpose any content to propagate the meme.
Mog uses the Pit Vipers
Wif uses a hat or a beanie
Retardio uses clown face makeup
When creators are given V2 functionality, it strips away the boundaries and allows for more organic creation.
While I believe V2 memes will lead this cycle, I also think that is only part of the secret sauce.
V1 memes have done a poor job creating culture and identity with their holders.
How do you identify with a dog or a frog?
You can't.
But, as we've seen with Mog, the meme becomes more powerful when the meme represents a culture.
And it becomes unstoppable when that culture represents a person's identity.
So, this cycle I will continue to add more Mog while also looking for V2 memes that Mog has inspired.
