AI isn't replacing website builders
It's replacing the way we interact with them
Every builder today is racing to bolt an AI chat onto an existing product
@ycodedotcom feels like one of the first that's asking a different question
What if the interface itself became the conversation
Instead of digging through panels to fix spacing update a CMS collection or make a section responsive
You just tell it what you want
The agent does the work
The other thing I didn't expect
It's open source
You can self host it
Bring your own Claude GPT Gemini or Grok
Your website isn't trapped inside someone else's platform
That's a much bigger shift than another AI feature
Feels like we're moving from website builders to website operators
And I think that's where this category is headed

Ycode is open source.
Self-host it on your own infrastructure for $0, or use Ycode Cloud if you want managed hosting.
Your website should stay yours — including the AI that builds it.
Worried about AI shipping something you didn't approve?
It can't.
Everything stays a draft until YOU hit publish. Every turn has one-click undo. The agent literally has no publish button.
And it's not just design:
💬 "Update the pricing page layout" → done
💬 "Add a new field to the blog collection" → done
💬 "Turn this section into a reusable component" → done
Pages, CMS, components, animations — all through chat.
The agent doesn't generate generic AI-looking pages.
Before every prompt, it loads YOUR design system — colors, fonts, components, styles.
New sections match what's already there. It builds like a teammate who read the brand guidelines.
Most AI website builders lock you into their model and their generic output.
Ycode works differently: paste your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or xAI.
Your model. Your billing. No AI markup — we charge $0 for AI usage.
Ycode 1.28.0 is out.
The builder now has an AI agent. Describe what you want in a chat panel and it builds pages, components, and CMS content on the canvas — using your site's real colors, fonts, and components, on your own OpenAI / Anthropic / Gemini key.

🔧 Under the hood the agent replays the same tool registry as Ycode's MCP server — ~130 tools across pages, layers, CMS, components, styles, animations, forms, i18n, and settings. Whatever Claude / Cursor / ChatGPT can do over MCP, the in-app agent can do too. Minus publish.
↩️ Every message comes with a **Changes** card. One click **Undo** reverts everything that turn touched — pages, layers, styles, CMS items, all of it. And the agent has no publish tool: nothing goes live until you hit Publish yourself.
✨ Watch it work. Touched layers shimmer, new sections stream onto the canvas one by one behind a build skeleton, fonts and image assets sync live, and the canvas auto-opens the page being edited. CMS edits get their own activity shimmer in the collections view.
🎨 The agent sees your **real design system** on every turn — color variables, fonts, components, shared Layer Styles — so new sections match what's already there instead of inventing generic tokens. After building it also screenshots the result, critiques it, and applies small fixes.
💬 Type `@` in the composer to mention pages, collections, layers, or components as inline pills. Or enter pick mode and click a layer on the canvas. Attach screenshots, paste URLs, switch models mid-session. A usage badge tracks tokens and approximate cost per session.
🪄 Open the right sidebar and flip the new **Agent / Human** switch. Add an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini in Settings → AI, pick a default model, and go. Keys can be shared with the project or scoped **only me**, so contributors can bill their own account.
Ycode 1.22.2 is out — bundling the 1.21.2–1.22.2 release window.
You can now copy layers in one Ycode project and paste them straight into another — with the styles, components, assets, fonts, and color variables they depend on.

🧱 Plus a sweep of fixes: nested reference collections render correctly on canvas and published, publishes no longer fail on projects with thousands of translations or CMS items, component styles flow into CMS rich-text, anchor IDs in link dropdowns dedupe, and repeated collections load faster on canvas.
