Excited for the devday announcements but feels like there's a lot of pressure on them to announce some meaningful things. Opus 5.5 has so much to offer right now that it's tempting for a lot of solo engineers who can't afford multiple subscriptions at once
Is there a clear comparison anywhere of usage you get with the $200 @devindesktop plan vs an @OpenAI $200 sub? I just want a direct comparison so I can understand how high the premium is to use something which lets me pick between more models
Sol 6 still has the issue where it randomly works on a message from a few messages ago rather than the current message 🙃
The Meta VR glasses make me think we're eventually going to end up integrating VR into phones, so instead of carrying that phone-shaped block around we're just carrying a slightly larger phone and the glasses plug into those
If the tool you're using already does everything you need it to why would you switch just because something else scored higher on a benchmark which doesn't even test on the work you're doing?
I'd love to see @OpenAI implement something with sites to allow AI enabled sites to use the token usage of the person using the site.
So users sign in with their OpenAI account, get warning etc about how it will work, then they burn their monthly limit from their plan to use it
It just makes AI enabled web apps much more manageable as an individual. No need to estimate usage for account types, set limits, etc. just build it and let people use it.
Opens up a lot of opportunities for really cool things to be built without the current issues
Hoping with the Sol price cuts I'll be able to work comfortably on a couple of projects at once in my regular flow now

Just realised there's a Codex banked reset expiring in a few hours so it's time for 5 worktrees so I can have 5 threads running Astra xhigh in fast mode for a couple of hours 🫡
Make sure you don't let your reset expire because it just does away, they do not auto apply!
Funny to see everyone blame every bit of bad software on vibecoding now as if 90% of software wasn't already garbage before AI coding. AI does what it's told (mostly) - if the software is garbage it's still down to the person using the tool
What I'm finding hardest as a solo builder is defining when it's time to release. Every time I finish one feature I seem to decide on two more I want to add before launch
Would definitely benefit from someone just pushing me to get something released and to iterate after
Does AI intentionally leave issues in to make code more realistic? Just seems so strange that it completes work then if you ask for a review of that work it always finds issues
I need AI coding tools to stop telling me how long a human would take to implement something and start telling me how long it will take.
Also in general making them better at estimating work would bring a lot of value
Found out why Astra was being so slow - turns out it decided to document all the testing and visual checks it did for the work. Noticed when it included 35k lines as part of the PR, including screenshots for the visual checks it did 🙃
