An interesting thing about ADHD (- i got inattentive type) is that meds help but don't fix.
So, meds slowed me down enough to realize I was not paying attention so I could shift my energy to focus which is fantastic BUT it also made me realize how insanely oblivious I have been my entire life until treatment. Aka, I was never aware I wasn't paying attention to things because I never even consciously processed what I was supposed to pay attention to....which meant for YEARS I must have unknowingly ignored, forgot and disregarded so many people/actions without a single thought in my puny brain 🙃
It's just crazy to me that if I never knew to seek out diagnosis/treatment, I would continue to think my inattentive thoughts were based off a full picture🤦♀️
OMG ALSO once I have like a big girl job and have insurance I 100% want psychotherapy because studies show therapy is EQUALLY as effective as meds BUT unlike meds that stop working once you stop taking them, benefits of psychotherapy for ADHD sustains 2 WHOLE YEARS after stopping
